The original!
Before Shakira went blond. Before Shakira dressed scantily. Before Shakira sang in English. There was "Piez Descalzos", bare feet. Organic, true, and so far from Hollywood.
One of my all-time favorites. Brilliant lyrics that didn't have to rhyme or be translated to make some sort of sense in English.
This is still on my iTunes, love it!

I think "ladrones" was probably shakira's last good album before she fell off to being a sellout and joined the mainstream cult. This album is at a time when she was hungry and gave us a glimpse of her inner soul, what great musicians do. She was a musician at this point in her career- now a mere pop performer. This goes well for Alanis fans, but as a sentimental guy who loves folk and rock I immediately fell in love with this album. But let's face it, great soulful music doesn't necessarily sell. But man does she jam and sing on the guitar. And her voice is majestical- yes! I love all the tracks on this album and still listen to it to this day. I also suggest laura pausini who goes above and beyond soul music. Her voice is amazing as well and she can hit those notes. Shakira, now that u have millions can u at least make an album for your old true fans? te lo doy la gracia - ahora ponte las pilas.

My mom played this cd in the car when I was about 5 years old and I knew evry song by memory! :) good times. I recently found moms old cds and heard it again, now that I can judge the songs I think they are incredible! Although its all in spanish, but its still enjoyable.
Mi mamá tocaba este cd en el carro cuando yo tenía como 5 años y me sabía las canciones de memoria. Hace poco me encontré con el cd otra vez y cuando lo escuché no pude creer lo increible que son estas canciones!

Esta es la primera Shakira. La esencia de sus letras y melodías están en este disco. Si te gusta su música actual, no debes pasar por alto sus orígenes.
