Great transaction. As a textbook it's terrible. Apr 01, 2009 Great transaction.
As a textbook it's terrible.
This book is for people who are entering the field of paid public speaking.
Lots of redundancy.
Very little variety and versatility.
It is all there! Nov 23, 2008 This book is full of tips, ideas and resources that removes a lot of worry and thinking in preparing for that special presentation. It is really a text book on presentations covering A to Z so is pretty dry and could be enhanced by more stories to illustrate the ideas being presented.
None the less the content is comprehensive and would provide a valuable resource to anyone struggling putting a presentation together.

Persuasive and Clear Nov 18, 2008 Bob Bly comes up trumps again. He writes in such a clear and compelling way, you find yourself taking information in quickly while enjoying the learning experience.
The book is well laid out and will help trainers, business people and people who are imparting information to a variety of audiences. Readers will also learn how to build their profile as a speaker, or as a the default presenter to turn to, for all manner of organisations.
He makes the point that it is the content of your presentation that people remember and that today it is substance that is required over style.
A good read and a great book to dip in and out of to remind, and inspire and to edit yourself and make sure you stick to the point.

A Real Time Saver Nov 15, 2008 It took me years to learn what Bob Bly has written in 250 pages. It's an excellent resource and I highly recommend it to anyone with a need, or desire to stand and deliver. Great for students and outstanding for experts seeking to refine their presentations. There really is something here for everyone. Definitely add it to your reference library.
Another Bly Masterpiece Oct 27, 2008
I've given hundreds of presentations and have spoken in public for years,
so I have no apprehensions about standing in front of an audience.
I'm always looking for resources to help improve my skills, and Bob has
hit this one out of the park -- especially for those who are just starting out, or corporate engineers/technocrats who don't like speaking.
Many of the topics Bob covers aren't unknown to seasoned speakers, but for the less seasoned, it is full of good ideas and very good advice. In my first 30 minutes going through the book as soon as it arrived, I found several useful ideas.
And given the price, it's well worth the investment.
Definitely another Bly masterpiece. Practical for the less initiated yet still worth the read for the more experienced in the audience.
