Greatness! May 17, 2009 Wow, I was so anxious and nervous about getting my first product but once I recieved it my worries vanished! If you like great, catchy beats to sing along to, Black Kid's Partie Traumatic, is a brilliant pick!
Support you local bands May 04, 2009 Okay this album is not for the lames of the world. I actually heard one of their songs by accident and once I realized that they were from Jacksonville, FL (like me) I thought I'd give them a chance. Well needless to say, The Black Kids are the only good thing to come out of North Florida. This band is amazing. This album is definitely made for partying. I jam out this bad boy every friday and saturday night driving to the beach bars. If you're half as awesome as me you're going to love this album. Big Ups to the Black Kids!!!
Just what we needed Mar 28, 2009 Partie Traumatic is a hodgepodge of '80s pop culture rolled up into 10 shiny, slick, catchy indie rock songs that demand repeat listens. I hear influences ranging from The Cure to New Edition, and everything in between. It all works very well for the Black Kids on their debut LP. No song is without a very tight structure, tons of vibrant energy and insistent pop hooks. The vocals are delivered with equal parts playfulness and melodrama as synths buzz and whir and guitar leads spell out happy, sunny days. The lyrics don't offer too much to ponder, but that's not the point, here. Campy and witty wordplay, if sometimes a tad sophomoric, fit the album's lighthearted, youthful sound perfectly. If you're like me and have grown tired of all the self-importance and seriousness of indie rock these past few years, you'll find this album a refreshing and overdue throwback to that moment in history when indie rock was fun. This record joins the ranks of The Strokes' "Is This It" and the Killers' "Hot Fuss," offering simple but highly style-conscious pop-rock jams that never cease to entertain.
Great Rock Album! Mar 15, 2009 I have to agree with the first reviewer I saw. Rolling stone did seem to rave about them, and then threw them out to the dogs. (but then again rolling stone does that to everybody and some of the music they like nobodys ever A. heard of or B. puts people to sleep). Anyways, Black kids great band, they seem like they have a lot of fun, and Their music is exertremely engertic to listen to it. Very great CD!I love their unique sound and think they could potentially become really big one day.

One hit wonder Nov 10, 2008 This album was a total letdown. THey have one catchy track, but the rest of the songs just sound like the lead singer is practicing to take Robert Smith's place in the Cure reunion 2048. I was disappointed, but not totally surprised.
