A fighter tells you the truth Nov 07, 2009 I teach people Muay Thai, I'd like to say I train fighters, but mainly it's middle aged women. I do get to use Pad and train some of the younger people, but still, I don't train MMA fighters. But, have trained along side them, and trained with them. So I'm use to 1 hour of boxing, 1 hour of Muay Thai, and 1 hour of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I would do this 3 times a week. So, my body did certainly take a beating, and sparring is sill the best workout imaginable. (Grappling and stand-up). So I went into this program thinking, as of now I still take 2 BJJ classes a week. A Krav Maga class here and there, as well as my own Muay Thai workouts and about 3 Crossfit classes a week. So, it's hard to say that I'm out of shape and getting in shape, or that I'm a gym rat who never had a hard workout. That'd be untrue, I train right along side MMA fighters, some good, some bad. ANYWAY, I started this program a few days ago, so I can't even say that I'm all the way through it, or that I completed 90 days, but I can say it's an excellent program, and it's certainly worth it's weight in gold. My girlfriend, and her parents are also very excited and into it. I can't say I've seen results, but I have decided to diet a little differently while going through the program. For anyone, be it MMA fighter, Grappler of any sort, Swimmer, Gymnast or just a person with a gym membership, this is a very very good workout. That aside
It sucks having to get all the other stuff. Pull up bar, weights or resistance bands etc. However, you will get in shape, unless you procrastinate and make excuses, this will work for you. I'm hoping that it adds to my BJJ and how I play the game, but we shall see. It's certainly helping my core.
I wish everyone the best, and I can say that unless you HATE working out at home, then this will work for you.
DO NOT PURCHASE FROM AMAZON - SCRATCHED DISCS Nov 06, 2009 DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT FROM AMAZON
I highly recommend P90X to whomever is willing to put the dedication in both for the workouts and the nutritional plan.
However, be warned, Amazon and other third party sellers have been known to deliver pirated and/or scratched discs.
Ordering from Beachbody will insure you get brand new, non-pirated and non-scratched discs. Plus you get a lifetime warranty to replace anytime you feel.
If you are trying to save a buck or two, there are a lot of bloggers out there who will tell you how to make shortcuts on the additional gear (yoga blocks, weights, recovery drinks, etc). If you must, that is where you should cut corners.
This is no joke! Nov 06, 2009 You always have to wonder about fitness programs because most of them are a scheme, but this is the real deal! I do not recommend this for those who aren't in somewhat decent shape already. That is not to say those who are completely out of shape shouldn't try it...it will just be a rougher road. This program is very difficult, not only physically but mentally. The diet program really works but in my opinion it is more difficult than the physical aspect. If you follow the program to a T then you will see insane results. If you follow most of it (but cheat every now and again) you are still getting your moneys worth. I was not a big fan of yoga so I never did it and I ate high protein/low carb but didn't follow the diet. Even with skipping yoga and the diet I saw amazing results. I highly recommend this program! With that being said there are some negatives. Frankly, Tony Horton (the instructor) is annoying. I watched each video once to figure out what to do and then I became my own instructor and stopped watching the videos and followed the book instead. If you aren't knowledgable wih fitness and you also find him annoying then you can watch but mute him and listen to your IPod. Another negative is the time commitment. These are not short workouts like with Crossfit. One last negative is finances. My bank account took a huge hit with the diet. I was spending alot more at the grocery store trying to eat healthier. I also purchased protein bars and Aftershock/post workout mix. These things are not cheap.
The pros far outway the cons and the results are completely worth it. Buy a full length mirror because you will want to stand in front of it shaking your head at how great you look.
very happy Nov 02, 2009 LOVE the videos...lost 10 lbs in three weeks....seller shipped quickly and it was brand new! Very happy customer!

Be ready to WORK - this is a great regimen! Nov 01, 2009 It's simple:
DON'T buy this product if:
1) You aren't in the mood to work hard
2) If you aren't in a regular habit of exercising, and you think this will "jump start" you - - it is meant for people already in shape, NOT beginners!
3) If you want tons and tons of cardio, aerobics, etc. The emphasis in this program is resistance training, to an extent
4) If you don't have at least 70-95 minutes a day to dedicate to exercise
5) If you can't commit to this regimen for 90 days
DO buy this product if:
1) You want to look better than you've ever looked in your life
2) If you currently have the fitness level, time, energy and drive to complete the workout
3) If you are in the mood for a major physical regimen, but don't want to spend $75 per hour with a personal trainer at the gym
4) If you don't want to buy five million pieces of exercise equipment - all you need are a yoga mat and resistance bands. And a chair, any chair in your house. A pull-up bar, yoga block, push-up bars, etc. are probably great but NOT necessary and I didn't use any of these - - and yet I successfully completed the program and look great now!
All I'll say is that I made the time for this program, gathered the energies to do it, had the physical fitness to get through it - - and now I look better than I've ever looked in my life.
Also - I used resistance bands for all the pull-up exercises in these workouts (bought a band with a door attachment, in a very heavy weight) and got great results. It's wonderful if you have the space/set-up in your home for a pull-up bar, but just want to share that it's not an absolute must. The bands can get you great results.
