Still, Olivia Sounds Great! May 24, 2009 A concert at the Sydney Opera House with a full symphony and twenty-seven songs is a sure fire hit. Even if Olivia's gold sequined pant-suit is questionable, she looks and sounds great. Only a few times were those high notes a bit of a stretch, but for someone her age, the vocals were more than satisfying and the show was absolutely professional.
"Have You Never Been Mellow" opens the act and proceeds with songs from `Xanadu' before Olivia does a series of her country-flavored songs, including her first big hit, "If Not For You". A slow version of "Psychical" is extremely interesting and her own penned song, "Not Gonna Give In To It", a response from her battle with breast cancer. Mixing slow ballads ("Cry Me A River") with faster numbers ("Twist Of Fate"), the show completely entertains. The symphony adds an enormous element of power to the show with several symphonic song introductions.
"Tenterfield Saddler", a song written by Peter Allen is sung with pure emotion, as is the other Allen song, "I Honestly Love You". Of course, towards the end of the concert, Olivia plays with the audience and her band members by going through some of the bigger hits from "Grease" with a great rousing rendition of, "You're The One That I Want" and a fun, "Summer Nights". Concluding with the song version of the `Serenity' prayer, Olivia Newton-John brings home the goods.
The concert is a five-star, but this DVD I have to give less to. More than often, DVD Concerts mix interviews' in between concert songs, interrupting the excitement or mood of the entire experience. In between every song, we are witness to Olivia giving us a tour of Sydney, meeting fans and having fun, but this should have been a separate `extra' on the DVD. Still, this is a great experience and is in 5.1 surround for that feeling of "being there".
WOW!!! Jan 04, 2009 Move over Cher and Madonna--and go away Striesand! Hang it up, Celine and Mariah---Olivia shows how a true "Diva" is supposed to do it LIVE!!
I sooo hope she does a Large USA tour after this. At 60, she is stunning, a cancer survior, an activist and blessed with a golden voice.
This DVD concert covers it all--From her 1st Single "If not for you" all the way up to her "Stronger Than Before" cd released in 2004--Olivia and her music has stood the test of time!
Some DVD concerts have some lows with ho-hum songs and you wanna skim thru them--with this concert, YOU WILL WANT TO WATCH EVERY MINUTE--not only cuase of all the great songs, but the musical production. Olivia has to have the best put together pop band out there. The musicians and backing vocalist were top notch on the concert.
If you like Olivia, this DVD is worth every penny and every minute watching.
Olivia, love, you're still the best!!!
Great Concert Nov 29, 2008 I've been a fan of Olivia's since I was a little kid. She doesn't disappoint in this concert DVD as well. Excellent song selection, excellent video quality and excellent sound quality. There was one issue that I had... I wish she didn't get facial work done(reminds me of Meg Ryan's work). She doesn't look the same to me. She's still beautiful but not the same :( Anyway great DVD. I hope they come out with her older concerts on DVD.
OLivia Newton John & The Sydney Sympphony Orchestra Nov 11, 2008 The Best of her Concert with her hits song form the past years....Good Melody and greatest concert for all family members.. It is 5***** from Olivia Newton John.

Love her....Hate her outfit! Oct 16, 2008 Being a die-hard Olivia fan, when I saw this DVD on Amazon I purchased it immediately. One can hardly carp about the amount of material on this DVD; Olivia sings most everything you could ever want to hear. Olivia is still strong vocally although we all get older and her voice perhaps is not as clear and shining as it once was. Her band and the Sydney orchestra were terrific as were her talented back-up singers. I realize that the Sydney Opera house is a extremely large venue, but for close-up video/film production; Olivia had on too much makeup and looked garish in the beginning of the concert. Once she was on stage awhile and sweated a bit, the makeup softened somewhat. I love Olivia, have been a hopelessly devoted fan since 1974 and will be until the day I leave this planet. That being said, I am going to say the thing that no one seems to dare to say.....WHY did Olivia get so much plastic surgery??? Look at her, she does not look like the same girl! Although still pretty, she has had her eyes and chin done and also too much botox/collagen in her lips....Look closely, you'll see and be sorry. She is a beautiful woman and would be an incredibly beatiful older woman also. Why is the entertainment industry so all fired up about having to look YOUNG? I love the DVD very much. I dislike the pukey green/gold pants suit she wears and really hate her "new" face, but I love her and always will.
