Oliver! (Deluxe Edition) (1963 Original Broadway Cast) Nov 07, 2009 This is what I have been looking for. It replaces my original LP that was damaged by a flood. I like it very much better because of its format to CD.

OLIVER Mar 16, 2009 I AM A MOVIE MUSICAL NUT AND REALIZED ONE DAY I WAS HUMMING A TUNE FROM "OLIVER" AND DID NOT HAVE THE DVD. IT BROUGHT BACK GOOD MEMORIES SINCE I LOVED THE MOVIE. THERE ARE SOME GREAT SONGS ON THE DVD.
Memories Jan 17, 2009 I wore out the vinyl on this album when I had it as a child. I can sing along with every word, know every nuance. I loved the big numbers, Consider Yourself, Oom Pa Pa, etc. And now as I listen as an adult, I am enjoying rest of the pieces.
I can't (and honestly, don't want) to separate the quality of the music from the childhood enjoyment, so for me it is 5 stars.
The additional material is fun, and since the original has worn a permanent groove in my brain, it's interesting to hear different takes on the material.

Still sounds great after all these years Jul 07, 2008 I saw this play on Broadway when it opened. I still know the lyrics!
Unusual subject material; wonderful musical! Jun 27, 2008 "Oliver!" is not a musical to be analyzed song-by-song or voice-by-voice. It is a musical to be enjoyed as a whole. While a couple of the songs did enjoy some popular success, there is really no stand-out among them; and none of the voices is out of the ordinary.
However, every song either propels the plot or reveals character traits. And every voice portrays the person it represents.
So--Sit back, close your eyes, relax, visualize the version of "Oliver!" you have seen (either the movie or on stage), and relive your theater experience. You will not be sorry.
