4Under The Influence Of A Groove,Here And There  Nov 19, 2009
I personally don't know much to anything about the music of B2K but it would seem that Omarion was more than ready to head out on his own and do something new musically. He gathered together everyone from Rodney Jerkins,OutKast's Big Boi and The Neptunes for this project. I might as well get the bad news out of the way first. For all this glitter about eight of the songs on this album just follow TO THE LETTER the bland, overly digitized and weakly sung hip-hop/R&B that...well unless you were a neo soul artist was one of the only sounds that would get you on the radio during this time if you were working in the R&B field. Why is it worth mentioning when there are dozens of albums of this exact sort every year? It has to do with five tunes that,in different ways all show enormous promise over much of the rest of the music of this era. "Touch" is a good example and actually became a hit and with good reason. It uses the same digital technology style but in the same uptempo polyrhythmic, harmonic and melodic chordal manner as someone such as Stevie Wonder might've used in the 70's.Yeah we've heard that before but it's solid proof that The Neptunes and Omarian have a MUSICAL understanding of Wonder as opposed to the more typically (and often poorly) used vocal impression of him. "Drop The Heater" and to a lesser extent "Take It Off" take on these polyrhythmic, multi layered funk/hip-hop styled rhythms. "Never Gonna Let You Go (She's A Keeper) not only has Big Boi but with the mixture of horn samples and keyboards again approches the same musical arena of keeping the flow of the innovative 70's R&B/funk flavor by using contemporary technology, textures and musical ideas as opposed to merely being retro. This is a brilliant musical direction to take, especially on a whole album in this modern age. If only Omarion could strech that concept out over the 13 cuts here. But he didn't:there is a lot of filler. It sounds alright on the surface but compared to his expansive direction not taken they all come off as shallow and juvinille. I can only hope that he'll one day return to and expand on this musical concept in the future.

3Omarion - O  Jun 24, 2008
This is a solid effort from former B2K member, Omarion. Even though i do have to say, i knew even before i bought this album exactly what i was going to get. Basically if i had to describe this album in one sentance it would be this,... This is an album where a former boy bander trys to shake off his innocent boy image and trys to establish himself as a sex symbol. And i pretty much knew from the start that thats exactly what this album was going to be. It happened with Marques Houston, and it happened again here with O. Now with all that said, that doesnt mean that this album is completely bad by any means. It just shows more what to expect with the content of the album. Expect alot of raunchy club songs, and some mid tempo ballads, oh and of course the famous attempt to get some street cred. You get all that with this album. With the first single "O" i was actually pretty surprised because he was able to make a very solid and mature baby maker on his first album. "O" is definetly one of the few highlights on this album with its, fresh sexy feel. And then there was the raunchy club dance song with "Touch" where he mumbles some pretty explicit words in between the chours and the second verse. And again he trys to establish that sex symbol image with the club track "Take It Off" and fails horribly to establish any kind of sexiness. And of course the dreaded attempt to establish street cred comes in the form of a Marques Houston produced track called "Growing Pains". Its not a terrible track, but it just doesnt sound right coming from Omarion. But then he makes up for some of his slips on tracks like the Underdogs produced break up song "Im Tryna" where he shows his singing capabilities. And then on the slow dance track "Slow Dancin" he really lays it on the ladies with this smooth vibin song. Overall, Omarion didnt fail his first solo test, but he didnt do anything truly speacial either.

C+

3O No  Nov 25, 2007
This is not a completely bad effort from omarion.
The leading track, "O", is an amazing song. Its such a smooth and squeeky clean love song, but from then on in, its all downhill.
B2K Should have never broken up!

1NOT A MASTERPIECE  Dec 22, 2006
I agree with "Crazywacko". This CD is ridiculous. There was only a few decent songs, and I can honestly say that it was no more than 3. I am upset with myself because I actually went out and bought it. Dont get me wrong. He can sing, as well as dance. But singing he cant do well on his own. Understandable that they (B2K) arent little boys anymore. They wanted to do there own things (solo) but they should've stayed together and supported each other. Him (Ormarion) by himself sucks. Sorry to say... And I heard and saw the video to his new CD, the single is called "Icebox". Video, and the song is stupid. The only compliment i will give is the dancing, (at times makes no sense) and the acting by Solonge. From seeing that, I definatley will not be putting any money into his pockets....
