Description:

If anything will drive a nail into the Backstreet Boys' coffin, it's this surprisingly impressive solo album from Nick Carter. The first of the Fab Five to break out on his own, Carter reveals a rocker's heart that's lurked under his high-gloss pop exterior. While he rasps and struts through his 12-song debut, we're not talking headbanging mayhem here. Carter excels in the brand of guitar rock that put Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams on the map. The elder Carter conjures the militaristic flamboyance of Queen on "Girls In The USA," or the teasing coyness of "Raspberry Beret"-era Prince on "My Confession." The anthemic "Is It Saturday Yet" is another highlight. Despite a seven-year tenure singing other people's songs as a member of America's favorite boy band, Carter proves himself an able tunesmith, penning five of the tracks on the disc, and plays some fine guitar. --Jaan Uhelszki

3It's an alright album, but...  Dec 05, 2007
Back in 2002, I was expecting the solo release of Nick Carter. The project "Now or Never" is a great start for what he wanted to do, but at the same time, I feel that he never should have released anything solo while still in the group.

So many rumors were spread saying that the Backstreet Boys broke up, and I thought that to be true. I used to like Nick Carter back in the day, but now, I'm all out of sorts with him, and here's why:

-The solo venture
-On the "Making the Video: Help Me" segment, he said while he was in the group, HIS career went nowhere.

If he didn't notice, the BSB's IS his career, and it felt to me as if he blew them off, or his ego got too big, I don't know.

All of the songs on there are pretty good, but I still have animosity towards him over the timing, sometimes his mouth, and the whole release altogether.

5Highly Underrated  Oct 07, 2007
This album is sooo amazing that I still listen to it years later! It's such a shame that there was so much hype with Justin Timberlake that Nick's album didn't sell that well. If people really knew how much better this album is compared to anything Justin has done, Nick would be the the limelight more often.

5It's hot  Mar 06, 2007
Very fun album, is very good for a solo debut attempt. This album did not get the promotion from the record company it should have; I never heard about it when it came out. And now here I am, years later, listening to it every day. Nick Carter's voice is amazing, and it shows through on this album. If you like him, buy it.

5Compare to Nick Carter and Backstreet Boys  Feb 21, 2007
I dont know whats up with Nick and BSB but I have notice alot different between Nick and BSB... BSB songs has ALMOST the same background/sounds of these albums they made like Quit Playing Games With My Heart beat but this Nick Carter is another hand Nick Carter has alot of different types of background/sounds in this album. Dont take me wrong I do like BSB but BSB has almost the same sounds of the background but different words in these songs. Great job Nicky!!!

5Awesome 1st CD  Feb 19, 2007
It's been 3 years and my family and I still love this. Great job- Nick did not the get the credit he deserved on this one. He has much potential.
