Review: Nick Colionne - No Limits Sep 21, 2008 I had the pleasure of photographing Nick at the Hartford Jazz Festival, back in June '08. I have heard his music many times before but you really have to see him to really feel his intensity. The CD is fantastic but to have the full effect, you have to see him live to get his full sound and picture. He is such a showman as well as a talented musician. My friend Jabari was touring with him, this summer, as his drummer and I had to come see Nick perform some of his new tunes. I now have a fuller appreciation for Nick's new CD after seeing him live. Do yourself a favor and see Nick Live and you will see why he has "No Limits!"

Easy on your ears. Jul 21, 2008 I just really love this album. Although I am not really into contempory jazz, I really enjoy listening to this album. the tracks are soothing and...relaxing.
Nick Colionne's guitar playing has been compared to George Benson and from style and tone standpoint you can hear why.
Cuts like "No Limits", the mellow "The Big Windy Cat" and the ultra fast "Godfather J" are uptempo funky/smooth gems.
"Steppin Back" has that steppers feel, whilst "Headin Wes Before Dawn" takes a melodic route in paying homage to Wes Montgomery. There are 3 vocal cuts and whilst Nick is no Luther, his crooning style works on the laid-back "Melting Into You".
This is a fine exhibition of Smooth Jazz guitar.

Phenomenal CD Jul 19, 2008 Nick Colionne has outdone himself (and that's saying plenty) on NO LIMITS. This CD is as close to his live shows as you can get (minus the comedy, he's one funny cat on stage!) on a CD that you plan to play in your car or at home. Vocals are outstanding, finally he has bowed to the undoubted pressure of his fans to do more than one vocal tune per CD and these are worthy of Will Downing (competition, Will!). As always, his guitar playing is incredible, powerful, nuanced...reminds me of singing. His production skills grow sharper with every CD. As a writer he can stand with anyone out there. I highly recommend this CD. Don't even call it smooth jazz...it's so much more.
