 Thrillingly feminine voice Oct 31, 2009
I first saw Nicole Atkins (a year ago today!) when she opened for The Avett Brothers, and was so impressed by her I bought this cd the next day. She's got a thrillingly feminine voice, no nasal cheating like so many other current singers, but a true clear tone. Her songwriting skills are better than good, too. I especially like "The Way It Is" - it's torchy and passionate. I'm still listening to all the songs, don't skip any, a year later.

I had the pleasure of seeing Nicole Atkins open up for Chris Isaak this past September here in California. Since Nicole hails from New Jersey, I don't think many in the audience had heard of her, myself included. I can't begin to tell you the reaction she received after her voice filled the venue..I am so crazy about her in every sense of the word..she is a true talent, with beautiful songs, and a strong and emotional voice. Not a day goes by that I do not listen to Neptune City. Quite simply put,this album is a masterpiece.

I had never heard of Nicole Atkins until I saw her concert on Direct TV during plane ride.Now I cant stop playing this album.The music? It's part 50s,part 60s,part 70s,part 80s and part 90s.It's a brilliantly produced,written and sung amalgam that will stay in your head for weeks and weeks.Count me as a major fan!
