How could you not love this? Jul 11, 2009 I bought this CD to replace my tape version after all these years. I recently listened to it and found I still remember all of the words! What I've always liked about this album is that the New Kids don't just sing classic carrols--at least half of the songs are original Christmas songs (hey, you can hear the classics anytime). The songs are fun and even the regular carrols have a "funky" twist to them. If you're looking at this page, you know you're going to buy it anyway. Just get it over with :-)
Always brings a smile to my face Jan 17, 2009 Even though I wasn't a mondo New Kids fan like seemingly every other early-teen girl back then, I did buy this album shortly after its release in that other dimension known as 1989 and I thought it was okay, yet it stuck with me for my not being all that crazy about it.
One *would* think that as you grow older, you'd outgrow the teen stuff (or the so-called bubblegum sound), but "Merry Merry Christmas" retains its charm for me all these years later and I'm very happy to have this album in my music collection again.
Now, there *are* some tunes that sound very dated such as "This One's For the Children" and "Funky Funky Christmas." Then again, the dated sounds of albums are what make, or should make, the listening experience complete for those who were around when it was originally released as well as for those who weren't even a thought.
The album cover captures the feel-good image of New Kids as well as the music itself, with pretty good renditions of Christmas classics such as "White Christmas" and "Little Drummer Boy." In that sense, the 1980's ended on a pretty good note (along with the rest of the string of solid pop albums released that year).
Listening to anything New Kids On the Block does bring a smile to my face. - Donna Di Giacomo
Love it! Jan 13, 2009 This is a cheesy but fun Christmas CD for you NKOTB fans out there. This CD brings back so many memories!
A New Kids Christmas Jan 12, 2009 I bought this album to reminisce my childhood Christmases since they reunited and totally fell in love all over again. This album is worth every penny and even after Christmas, I find myself popping the CD into my stereo!
Funky Funky X-Mas Indeed Jan 11, 2009 I remember listening to this album when I was a kid and it is still fun to listen to as an adult. Classic Christmas tunes like The Christmas Song, mixed in with the non-traditional, like Funky Funky X-Mas, make this Christmas CD fun and if you're a New Kids fan it's a must have.
