 One of the better Breeds books Oct 09, 2009
After reading this book, I tried a few other of the Breeds books. The couple I tried (for me) were too focused on sex and not enough plot. I generally like paranormal action with some romance. Sex scenes are fine but I don't care for ones that use the 'f' word, 'c' word and 'p' word, which these do. (Just a warning if you don't like that either.) And although Mercurys War still had a bit more sex than I typically like, I liked the story and the characters more than the other Breeds books that I tried.

Very much enjoyed this story. I've read all the breed books and Mercury carried a special place in my heart. I'm glad he got his own book.
 Mercury & Ria win the prize for my fav couple Aug 28, 2009
I have to say that these two win the prize for best-matched and sexiest couple of the breeds' books so far. I had Del-Rey and Anya up there briefly, but Mercury and Ria take the cake. I think it's because of the way the "mating heat" worked with these two that there was more time for a real, adult-type relationship (YIKES!) to develop along with the passion. With all the other couples, they were so caught up in mating heat that they couldn't see straight, so many of the books just had one sex scene after the other.
Mercury's War has plenty of sex - and hot it was too - but I thought there was more balance between Ria & Merc than with any of other breed couples. The scenes where he plays sub to her dom were especially scorching!
I think this book clearly shows that there's room for more than non-stop sex for a relationship to be hot-hot-hot. The teamwork they developed as they work toward finding and defeating the bad guys and the respect they had toward each other, in addition to the sexual attraction, makes this the Best of Breed book so far for me.

I LOVED THIS BOOK, I love the characters, plot and the drama. I love the way that the author injects humor, strength and weakness into her characters. Lora Leigh's books always leave me wanting more. Mercury is my second favorite breed. My first is Callan.
Oh me Oh My! May 05, 2009
I am in love with Mercury...he was so wonderfully written. The man was complex, sexy, and exciting. I lusted after this book after reading the brief synopsis in the back of Dawn's Awakening. Ria was just the right woman for Mercury, their interaction was engaging, exciting and wonderfully written. Mercury needed a woman who was strong and Ria was that and more...the sex between those two made the pages sizzle. Mercury and Ria are my favorite couple written by Lora Leigh. I cannot wait to read more of her books, especially the Breeds series.
I'm not going to go too much into the story, but I will tell you to go out and pick up this book...you will not want to put it down!
