She won for a reason! Jun 03, 2006 This is a really great CD. The Candian and American Idol winners are not usually that great, but Melissa is an exception. She just belts out her soul whenever she's at the microphone. My absolute favourite is definitely "Alive". It's just a beautiful song. Really, I recommend this CD who likes songs with great messages and a good beat. She's a great Pop/rock singer. You can't go wrong with this CD!
An Awesome Album! Jan 02, 2006 I came across this album when searching for some of the Australian Idol's albums. I looked into it and now i am absolutely in love with it! I have not stopped listening to it since. I was rather shocked when i discovered that they recorded the album in the same time (about a week) that the aussie idols do theirs. This album doesnt sound rushed and the songs are totally suited to the artist. My fav songs on the album are : Alive (the best winners single i've heard from all the countrys "idols"), Speechless and Ordinary Girl. All the others are awesome as well... I just hope that this 17-year-old canadian beauty will be released in Australia as well as other countries across the world, she is so talented and i think she deserves the fame!

Excellent CD! Jan 02, 2006 I LOVE this CD. Melissa's voice is absolutely beautiful on each song. Some highlights of the album are:
-Alive
-Kiss Goodnight
-Outside Looking In
-Safe Place To Hide
With her beautiful voice, no wonder her first single "Alive" was #1 for six weeks in a row in singles sales. Melissa's music should definately get airplay in the States if she keeps this up.
RECOMMENDED!!

NOT FROM CALGARY, ACTUALLY I HATE CALGARY! Dec 30, 2005 Well another idol record and finally one that doesn't suck huge. I stopped watching the show once Suzi & Josh were booted. I didn't like Melissa at all on the show as she seemed fake and the show was edited to make her Canada's sweetheart so the viewers would vote for her. That's nothing new the American version does it constantly. But back to the album, this is a decent pop rock record with nice production and a good core of songs. Kalan's album was terrible and no matter how much I tried to like it I couldn't. So far this is the only decent record that has been released from the Canadian Idol alumni. Melissa was the obvious choice over out of tune flat singing, tobacco spitting dork Rex Goudie. I can't believe that he made it past week 3. Honestly I can't believe Melissa made it past week 4. I am glad though that she got the oppertunity to release this album as she shines in her Avril/Kelly/Hillary cloned musical skin. It sounds as if she likes the songs she's singing and that goes along way to making this album enjoyable. I look forward to watching her grow beyond the Idol stigma as Kelly Clarkson has... Good on ya kid.

Idol At Its Best! Dec 23, 2005 I'm not usually a fan of people to come from any of the Idols: American Idol, Pop Idol, Canadian Idol, etc, however, Melissa O'Neil's debut is an exception. Like Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway," she manages to conquer the powerpop/rock genre without flaw, and delivers crisp tracks along with strong, excellent vocals. My personal favorite, "String Me Along," is just as infectious as Kelly's "Since U Been Gone," and would easily make number one on the Billboard Hot 100. She's already storming the charts in Canada, why not the USA?
