Description:

Unlike his fellow Lone Star troubadours Jack Ingram and Robert Earl Keen, Pat Green has a sweet, buttery finish to his tough, sinewy Texas twang. This sweetness works handily on searching romantic ballads like "One Thing" (written by Ingram), "Temporary Angel," and the lovely Radney Foster-penned title tune. But like Ingram and Keen, Green also knows how to get lowdown and rowdy, which he does in spades on a tongue-in-cheek reminiscence called "College" (which Green co-wrote with Brad Paisley) and "Sweet Revenge," an exquisitely bluesy, eye-for-an-eye anthem co-written with Ray Wylie Hubbard. --Bob Allen

3Getting Better  Aug 29, 2005
I've been listening to Pat since "Dancehall Dreamer" and as anyone else who has been listening to him that long you sure can see a change. Pat use to have this original, raw, outlaw sound to his music and then somewhere around "3 Days" that all changes. While "Lucky Ones" is better then the disaster that "wave on wave" was, it is still not back to that Classic Pat Green; but this album gives you hope of that return.

5A new favorite!  Jul 28, 2005
With this CD, "Lucky Ones," Pat Green has become one of my favorite artists. I listened to the CD, downloaded to my MP3 player and installed it in permanent residence in my car. Now I understand why all the Texans I know are so crazy about Pat!

5Lucky Ones  Apr 01, 2005
The Lucky Ones are the people who purchase this album. To me, Pat Green is like Merle Haggard: in a class by himself. CCR, McClure, Roger Clyne and Reckless Kelly are all good, but no one can match Pat. LO is strong from start to finish and has a good mix of songs. My personal favorites are "Somewhere Between Texas and Mexico", Radney's "Lucky Ones", and the Rob Thomas collaboration "My Little Heaven". Pat, please come play the Wormy Dog Saloon in Oklahoma City more often.

5Pat Green Is An Oasis!  Mar 30, 2005
I am a relatively new country music fan, and most definitely a brand new Pat Green fan, and I have to say "Lucky Ones" is a great album. A person could certainly call me a displaced rocker from the 1980s, as I miss this big arena rock sound and the bigger-than-life image which went with it; but quite frankly, this is why I find such a refuge in Country's new sound. It's rock, and I like it! Thanks for being a pleasure to listen to, Mr. Green...I hope other hopeless rockers will find you.

I became acquainted with Pat Green while living in Texas for 15 years. His raw energy and non-conforming style were instantly likeable and more important, respected. I have several of his CD's and listen to them often. Disregarding the reviews on Amazon, I ordered Lucky Ones, thinking people possibly too tough. Realizing that artists grow and change, maybe writing/performing songs about Texas and drinking beer was a thing of the past at least on this CD. But what is missing here is his rawness, creativity and sheer Pat Green style. I will concede that Don't Break My Heart Again is good and I do hear him in that song. Depressingly, whenever I long for Texas and pull out a Pat CD to make living up here easier, this will not be one of them. What I especially miss are the references to his (what appers to be) fundamental religious beliefs and love of family that you just knew came from his heart. PAT, PLEASE COME BACK.
