The Work is Great Nov 23, 2009 Over the past few weeks, I have been doing The Work that Katie recommends in her book. It explains how to do "The Work" thoroughly. If you really want to know the truth to your problems, this book will help you in doing that. Katie explains well in her book on how to do "The Work" and how to clearly think about the issues you have or have been through. It has helped me with what I think are small issues to big issues. Doing a journal is very important. I have also read one of her other books and have been on her website.
Deeply Disappointed with quality of the 5th CD Nov 12, 2009 Of the series of 7 cds the 5th cd was unplayable, No way to contact you. No way to return the set, as they had been opened. Loving What Is was excellent and I would recommend the book definitely, and the CD set, only if it was a guranteed return to send back if there is a problem with sound or engineering on any 0f the CD's.
For the practicing Buddhist this book may be the final piece of the puzzle Nov 11, 2009 I read many of the 1 star reviews just to see what people who don't like the book had to say. It seems as though the concept Byron Katie presents is difficult for many to take in. I found it easy to recognize and appreciate the jewel like quality of her insight.
I have read three of Byron Katie's books including A Thousand Names For Joy and I Need Your Love - Is It True? I have also listened to Your Inner Awakening on CD. As a practicing Buddhist the concept of working with the mind was not foreign to me, nor did I question her awakening or expertise which were clear to me. What she gives us is a new, powerfully practical and doable way to experience awakening, just as Zen masters attempted to do before her. Her method is simple and effective. It brings me great joy to recommend Loving What Is and The Work.
use it for your benefit, find what works and discard the rest. Nov 07, 2009 I wont go into the details of what this book is about, but in short, its based on a method created by Byron Katie called 'The Work'. Based on her worksheets that you can download from her website, you write about what is bothering you and then you ask yourself 4 questions. Rather simple. I agree with other reviewers who state that she has no credentials besides getting out of her self imposed misery. So if you choose to read this book, keep in mind that she has no basis besides her own experience to formulate these 'theories' and 'methods'. I do respect her experience, because at times, a degree/professional credentials don't do much unless backed by life experience and empathy. I like her method but she falters when she states that this can be applied to EVERYTHING including child abuse and trauma. No it cannot. If you have experienced extensive trauma, you do NOT want to utilize her methods and further traumatize yourself. this is good for petty, small issues that bother us on a day to day basis. I use it for interpersonal hassles, past relationships gone bad, general problems that are not rooted in traumatic experience. Def. read it, use it but do not make this the only method of inquiry for your life or use it for trauma.
AMAZING! Nov 02, 2009 This woman is very wise & amazing, she really has something to say ! I reccomend this book to EVERYONE!
