trite piece of garbage Aug 27, 2009 I am ashamed to say that such a high rating on Amazon swayed me a little in picking up this CD. I wanted to hear a good east coast r&b singer/neo soul... whatever. The music is not that bad, but lyrically he just tries to hard and fails to put together many original things. This is just a personal preference, but I'm almost immediately turned off when a guy starts plagiarizing other singers as is done in this cd. And what he has to say is just dumb, though I will give it to him that his heart is in the right place. However, there are lots of people with their heart in the right place. So what? It doesn't mean someone should cut their cd just because they've got heart. You've got to first be good and second, please try to at least show some originality.
I think I'm in love! Apr 01, 2009 I love this cd so much I had 2 buy another copy because I played the first til it was warped. He's great...love'em to death.

I expected more Dec 14, 2008 I expected more from this album. I decided to give it atleast 3 stars because he was generous enough to put 17 songs on this album, which is far more than what these artist put out these days, so I commend him for doing that. So back to the quality and not the quantity. Most of the songs are a little boring to me. I think he is a great artist but on this album it seems like he is trying to be like Marvin Gaye sprinkled with a dash of R. Kelly and a pinch of Musiq Soulchild.
The best songs are:
Marathon

Desire
Empty
Woman
An Instant Classic Dec 04, 2008 Contrary to most of the reviews, I thought that "Love Behind the Melody" was better than "The Love Experience." As a huge neo-soul fan, I think that Raheem Devaughn is one of the most sincere, hungry, and soulful neo-soul artists in the game right now. His talent really shows on this new cd. With timeless classics such as: "Desire", "Marathon", and "Empty" he truly outdoes himself. These songs speak for themself. The interludes are even amazing, especially "Midnight" and "Woman I Desire." Unfortunately, there are a few songs that I can afford to skip over like "Mo Better" (maybe it's because it's over 7 minutes long!) and "Four Letter Word" but maybe other people actually enjoy them. The other tracks on this cd are amazing, which makes this cd a classic. I truly adore Raheem's music and have met him when he came to NJ. His next album REALLY needs to include "Prototype" and "Text Messages."
Kim's Top 5 Tracks:
1. Midnight (Have you heard this backwards??? Its amazing!!!)
2. Marathon
3. Desire
4. Woman I Desire
5. Customer
