The same era as CHEAP THRILLS, the best Joplin album until now. Ball & Chain still sends chills down my spine. How many more stupendous albums could she have made if she had only stayed with her BEST BAND!! $#@&%*in managers and record companies!!!

When I saw that Amazon had this gem for $[...], I jumped all over it. I'm glad I did! A FANTASTIC remastering of one of Janis' most energetic shows. I never did appreciate the talent of Big Brother and The Holding Company, but through the fabulous remastering on this release, the band just absolutely cooks, and adds a lot of energy to Janis' performance. The CD contains a fair amount of stage commentary, and a fair amount of audience noise between songs, which some may not like, but I really think it adds very well to the overall "live" experience.
Things kick off with the powerful classic "Down On Me", but in my opinion the best track by far is the timeless "Summertime" from Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess". Listening to Janis wail on this one absolutely gave me chills. If I was going to play only one track for someone unfamiliar with the legend of Janis Joplin, this would be the track. Incredible. The "live" performance here is the best thing she ever did. "Summertime" alone is worth the $[...] CD price. Even if you are not a huge Janis Joplin fan, spend a few bucks to add this one to your collection.

I went through high school & college in the Sixties and grew up listening to and seeing groups of the day. This Janis Joplin live concert CD really brought back memories. I am very happy with my purchase and delivery was surprisingly fast.

I recently ordered 4 or 5 Janis Joplin CDS and this one is by far my favorite.
