Great Show in a Beautiful Location Dec 12, 2008 Filmed over three nights at the Gorge Ampitheatre in Washington, Dave Matthew's Live at the Gorge is a worthwhile listening and viewing experience. While we do not get any one particular concert in its entirety we do get two CD's of music and a two hour DVD of the weekend's highlights.
The music selection for this package was rather unique in that it was chosen by Matthew's fanclub , the Warehouse, for inclusion and features quite a few selections that had not previously been released live. If one is looking for the entire weekend's shows, I have been told that a six CD package is available on the band's website.
The included DVD features nine performances and a documentary called In the Gorge. Also included is the video montage for Grace Is Gone.
The DVD is recorded in Dolby Surround 5.1 and includes two multi angle songs.
This is a low priced package that gives the buyer about three hours of the band's music. Well worth the price of admission.
The DVD is thrilling Jul 28, 2008 Just want to provide some balance to all the reviews which focus on the frequency of the jump-cuts in the DVD as a negative.
It's true the cuts are very frequent, and if you try to sit through this wishing the edit was more conventional you will certainly get frustrated.
If you don't think about it, however, but just sit back and enjoy the show (having your TV hooked up to a decent sound system is of course mandatory), you might just find this one of the most thrilling concert DVDs you've ever seen.
A great oil painter can capture the feeling of an ocean without actually using water, or night without turning the lights off. Here the videographers have captured the feeling of being at a show without simply filming what you see from the 5th or 15th or 50th row. In fact they capture the spirit of what is happening at a show in every moment by showing the viewer countless perspectives on the action, layered over one another so smoothly that after a while (for this viewer at least) you don't even notice how quickly it's changing.
It's a unique viewing experience. Savor it.

AWESOME Jan 09, 2008 I am a huge DMB fan and I live at the gorge. Need I say more? Beautiful areial footage of the gorge as well as the show itself. Awesome documentary and show all in one. Looks like the boys also had fun on their helicopter ride over the gorge. No, this is not a whole show but still well worth the money if not only for the view. The sound mixing was perfect. Every voice, every instrument was perfect.

They're ready to entertain and enlighten at the scenic Gorge Dec 02, 2006 The sound and style of the Dave Matthews Band gets better with every concert, every studio release, every live performance, and they possess the uncanny ability to sound different every time they play, but always adding more depth to their musicanship without even trying. If any fan or even mere listener has never seen or listened to the band live, this CD/DVD set would be a great invitation to experience the energy this band puts forth to the stage. The two CD portion contains some of the best classics like "Rapunzel," "Song That Jane Likes," "Fool to Think," "Drive In, Drive Out," "Space Between," "Two Step," and "Lie in Our Graves," among many others. The DVD portion only illustrates the energy and talent this band brings to the stage. Performing at Washington's Gorge, one of the band's favorite venues, they bring many classics to life again such as "Dancing Nancies," "Seek Up," "Ants Marching," "Tripping Billies," and a terrific opener with "Grey Street." Whether you're listening to the CD or enjoying the DVD concert, you'll be engaged by how well these guys can bring many different sounds and varieties of music together. And if you're already familiar with the DMB as a live act, you'll only see and hear how each version of a classic they perform somehow sounds different and deeper than the last. Quite simply, this release demonstrates the magic that is the Dave Matthews Band.
