This one really defines the band. One of their best! Feb 07, 2010 Done as a benefit for homeless and at-risk youths, Pearl Jam's performance at Benaroya Hall was one of most solid I've heard in live performances. I think albums that are considered elite should not only stand the test of time, but get better as time passes. This one feels like it could be headed down that road. The songs are deep and thought-provoking, and the show by Eddie Vedder and the band really define what a great acoustic (or semi-acoustic) performance should sound like. Not only that, but this is just classic Pearl Jam.
Some of my favorites on the CD are "Of The Girl", "Down", "I Believe in Miracles", "Nothing as it seems" and "Thin Air." Pearl Jam is also able to pull off a great version of Johnny Cash's "25 Minutes To Go." I first experienced listening to this CD while traveling across state, and it did take awhile to grow on me, but this has become one of my favorites. Like many live performances, I think that this one is better listened to as a whole album than just in small parts; it just doesn't do a live show justice to skip tracks.
Over all, very impressive album from Pearl Jam. I think Pearl Jam fans will be quite pleased with this effort. If you aren't familiar with Pearl Jam, then this would be a good one to pick up because it really defines who they are.
Great Album Oct 13, 2009 If you like Pearl Jam, you'll love this album of live music filled with the haunting ambience of a full acoustic set. Great music and great overall CD. I can listen to this anytime and can't get enough.
EXCELLENT Aug 28, 2009 I absolutely love this CD. I'm not a hard core fan but I like Pearl Jam a lot and was looking for some good live stuff. This is a nice change of pace with some good performances.

Amazing & Heartfelt Jul 26, 2008 There are some great, full reviews of this cd already so I'll keep my comments brief.
I'm sure every Pearl Jam fan is aware that they have released many concert cds. What makes this one special for me is the intimacy of the setting. Benaroya Hall is a small venue and the acoustics are outstanding. Eddie's vocals are just terrific, full of warmth and expression. Many of the songs are acoustic and most of the selections showcase Pearl Jam's softer, more introspective side. Even so, the songs cover a wide range of moods, moving from the lovely and wistful "Thumbing my way" to the powerful, angry cover version of Dylan's "Masters of War." Although a lot of my favorite PJ songs are not on this cd, in a way that is even a plus as it got me listening to some lesser known (but still great) songs. This performance was actually a benefit concert for an organization that helps at-risk kids in the Seattle area. I don't know if any of the money from sales of this cd go to that organization or not, but if it does, that would be just one more reason to buy this great, highly enjoyable cd.
