Music's a mixed bag, but you can't beat the price (or the cause) Apr 19, 2009 All righty, let's break this down. First up, the music: There are 16 songs on here, and as with most comps, there's a lot of variety and you're probably not going to like everything. There are the bigger draw bands to get people to buy this, like NOFX, Anti-Flag, and even Good Charlotte (ye gads). What really makes this disc worthwhile, though, are the tracks by some of the lesser-known bands, from the sweet punk-pop of The Eyeliners, to the sinister electro-rock of The Faint, to the ripping songs of Bigwig and District 7. There are more winners here than the typical comp, and for $4, you can't beat the price.
Next up: Packaging. This fuzzy puppy comes in a standard jewel case with a clear tray. All the artwork is on the same snazzy-looking beige-looking paper, while the brief liner notes mainly give song credits and tells you where to find the album the song came from, as well as the bands' websites.
Unfortunately, it seems a lot of the people here think that delivering an ill-informed rant castigating PETA constitutes a review for this CD. Yes, if you buy this CD, some of your money goes to PETA, and yes, Ingrid has said and done some things I disagree with. In the end, PETA does far more good than they do bad, and now they even have their ABC campaign as an effort to make amends for the shelter animal debacle. I'm a vegan and clearly biased, but I think this is a worthwhile purchase. It ain't going to break you and you'll not only support PETA, but show some love to Fat Wreck and rad bands like Propagandhi as well.

Are you kidding me??? Apr 03, 2007 Songs to BENEFIT Peta!?? AHHHH! Run for your lives!!! No, it can't be! PETA, one of the most pretensious and hypocritical organizations on the planet does not deserve any sort of aid whatsoever. But then again look at the p*ssy semi punk bands we have on here representin' for PETA. We have plenty of STELLAR talent here such as Good Charlotte (here comes the eyeliner), the Used (want some razorblades to go with your tofu?), and of course what's some watered down hippy music without some whiney protesting from our "groundbreaking" rebellious pals Anti-flag and Story of the Year. Ok I'll admit Goldfinger and NOFX are DECENT at best and can be fun but now that I know they support PETA I no longer support them. Sorry but I'm a man of principles. Here's my suggestion- less wasteful protesting and whatnot and more drugs because as sad as that sounds that would be a hell of a lot more productive than this album. If you want real punk please pick up some Discharge, Black Flag, and some Misfits as these bands are far more rebellious than all these combined. Plus I bet most of the artists here eat meat anyway, douche bags. I think my point has been made, PEACE.
P.S. You know what's funny? There actually is a band on here called the Eyeliners! If that doesn't make you sick to your stomach then their soybean "steaks" surely will!

I love animals too Mar 23, 2007 I love hamburgers, veal, buffalo chicken wings, ect.
God, I just freakin' hate PETA and their no good self righteuos A=holes. If you don't want to eat meat then go spend your time getting stoned and telling yourself, "geez, this sure is making my rich daddy think I'm a rebel. thats what he gets for not spending enough time with me". For this album, its just a bunch of brainwashed lunatics with no talent making a dull and senseless album. Just look at the line-up, and thats enough to make you look away for better albums. Face it people, we have been eating meat for centuries and animals have been eating each other for milleneums, just don't protect animals that can't protect their dumb selves. Survival of the fittest and the strong will destroy the weak.

A great little compilation. Dec 05, 2005 Well, it would be hard for me to review this without getting all preachy on you, but I'll try. When I got into punk rock, I started to question stuff, and meat production was indeed one of them. I read up on why people believed meat was wrong, and decided that it was a good thing. I still didn't make any move to do anything about it.
But then I saw this record. It was cheap, for a good cause and had a lot of my favourite bands on it. So I bought it.
The inlay, may I say, was very well written and I began to think, well, if I don't believe in meat, why still eat it? Watching the enclosed video, Free Me, I decided there was no longer a place in my life for meat.
But back to this CD. If you enjoy punk music, I strongly recommend this. It is not a bunch of brain washing material (hey, play it backwards. Maybe it says: "Don't eat meat... meat is wrong...meat is bad...). It is a great little compilation of bands coming together to express their beliefs. I'd like to pick a favourite song, but I can't- they're all very good. So in conclusion, if you like Warped Tour/Punkorama style comps- get this. It is for a very good cause, and you will enjoy the music. Thank you.
