Breathtaking Apr 11, 2009 Breathtaking new jazz. Incredible compositions - and incredible performances. The very, very, very best of modern jazz. Absolutely a must-have.

An unsatisfying study. Much better than it sounds. Jan 30, 2009 Mr. Eigsti seems hellbent on proving himself to musicians. Too bad he doesn't concern himself with listeners.

A one trick pony... Oct 18, 2008 I have not generally been to fond of today's (past 20 years) jazz, having cut my teeth on jazz of the 40s 50s and 60s. Sometimes too much honking and other noise. Too much over-interpretive music, not necessarily following the standard format of stating a theme, then variations on that theme.
However, when I heard Caravan on the NPR jazz station I listen to, I told myself, I have to have it. I love that tune and it's arrangement, but am disappointed with the rest of the tracks. Taylor is a great jazz pianist, even when he gets a little impressionistic, but I don't care for his jazz writings.

Amazing! Jul 13, 2008 I've been waiting for another Taylor Eigsti album for some time. This album is as wonderful as his first two. His skill at the piano is amazing. A must-have for those who love jazz piano.

Heard 'Caravan' on radio, dropped everything to order! Jun 27, 2008 I was innocently working, with XM radio jazz channel on in the background. Heard the familiar tune, 'Caravan', looked up at the LCD display to see the performer was Taylor Eigsti, an unfamiliar name. Went back to work. Hey, this is a pretty swinging version. Looked up again at the display and thought: I should try to remember the name Eigsti. Went back to work. Hey, this is a really hard swinging, virtuoso performance! OK, I stopped the work, turned up the volume, savored the rest of 'Caravan', came here to Amazon, and plunked down my order for this album and 'Lucky To Be Me'. Then I googled and learned I must've had my head in the sand, because this musician has taken on the jazz world by storm the last few years. As you can read from my experience, I can't recommend this as background music to work by.... but I urge you to check this out as music that will excite and amaze and envelope you!
