3Strange  Jul 13, 2002
Wire Train was, along with The Del-Lords, the best American rock'n'roll band of the eighties. So why did Columbia leave off their best song ( "Love Against Me" ), and include a completely different and vastly inferior reworking of their second best song ( "The Last Perfect Thing" )? What were they thinking? Stick to "In A Chamber/Between Two Worlds.

5The Best  Jan 28, 2000
Wire Train will always have a place in my life....I actually played in a band that opened for them in the mid eighties. Now I am the host of a morning radio show in San Francisco(check me out @ Z957.com ...under the name of THE WOODY SHOW.) Where is Kevin Hunter?

5Just like I remember  Dec 27, 1999
Wow. Considering the band never really got the fame it deserved nationally, they are clearly an influence that rocked the rockers we know now.

I discovered them on tour here in Ohio back in the 80's and was instantly invigorated by them. I was the prime preacher of "trainess" in my state. I was even in the fan club!

Although they are no longer together, they work still in music, including much work for and with Cheryl crow (and I thought she "sounded" awfully familiar!)I wish they would reup and relase some new stuff. This album only makes me pine for new material.

They missed the big time by a hair and that's a shame but don't miss out on them, it's too late to join in on the magic they had, but not to tune in what you missed the first time around.

Their stuff is mastery, and you'll love it.

5A wonderful group nobody heard about!  Dec 22, 1999
I first saw Wire Train on a late night show called 'Thick of the Night' back in 1984. They performed 'Chamber of Hellos' from their first album. As I sat and watched them, I said to myself, these guys are really talented. The next day I went to a local music store and found the album entitled, In a Chamber... I immediately fell in love with this album and the refreshing, progressive sound that it brought to the mid- 80's music scene. My college roommate saw them in Reno in '85 and reported they were the best group he had ever seen, and believe me, he had an impressive concert resume'. To all of you that like the sound of groups such as; The Plimsouls or Echo and the Bunnymen, check out any album from Wire Train. These guys laid down a good sound, that unfortunately, ended way too soon

5Almost the most essential Wire Train!  Mar 18, 1999
There are some songs that should be on compilation like this. But since the band changed record company, the songs on this album is from their first three albums... and then some previously unreleased material, like the joint Wire Train/Waterboys song COMPASSION. Finally this song is available on cd. (My vinyl copy of the single is worn out). The album is more than good for first time listeners, but then again, why don`t spend your money on all their cd`s? Wire Train is underestimated. They never got the credit they deserved, and that`s a shame! Buy this one!
