This was recorded at the suggestion of Hollywood Oscar® Award-winning director, Fernando Trueba (Belle Epoque), which has become a phenomenon in Spain.

The result is a journey that discovers the essence of the Latino "love" song with connections to Cuba, Central and South America, and Spain.

Picked by New York Times critic Ben Rattcliff as "the best album of the year", Lágrimas Negras has had an impressive debut. The album has never been out of the top 30 since its release in Spain over nine months ago, achieving double Platinum sales status. It has won five Amigo Awards, one Premio Ondas, and three Premios de la Musica Awards (including Best Album).

The Bebo Valdes Lagrimas Negras CD arrived very quickly, with its original insert about the production of this music. The CD itself played perfectly, no scratches, no skips. I'm very pleased.

Emocionante y hermosa musica. El junte es excelente, me encanta escuchar el CD y el DVD todavia mas hermoso pues puedo ver a los musicos en vivo.

Para el que le guste algo diferente como una mezcla de el son cubano y el flamenco se lo recomiendo. El Cigala canta con mucho sentimiento y Bebo ejecuta con mucho sabor, aunque con la edad falla algunas notas al piano, pero no deja de ser envolvente y los arreglos musicales a mi parecer de alta calidad.

While in Spain for 23 days volunteering to help Spanish professionals improve their conversational English skills. I asked my new friends to recommend some authentic musica Espana that I could purchase. Bebo Y Cigala were instant suggestions. So I bought the "Lagrmas Negras" at the Cortes Ingles store and have been listening to it ever since. Soulful and melodic are two adjectives that come to mind.

Others have amply covered the virtues of this album. The songs are good, but what really sets it apart is Bebo and Cigalla's phrasing. They're just brilliant. I have tried to remove the disk from the CD player, so far without success.
