5Sing for Me!  Nov 08, 2007
Krystal's music could be described as modern rock music, just like Avril Lavigne or Rebecca St. James. I would probably say more like Rebecca St. James...because her albums like "God" and "Pray" really have the same message as this album. It's great to know more and more good Christian artists who sing in English. I really have much Christian music in English but the only artists with female vocalists before this one are Rebecca St. James, Superchick, and The Benjamin Gate. I would say that I fell in love with this album right away I heard the song "The Way to Begin". It's such a powerful song. This album really is rocking, and there's not too many peaceful moments. This album itself encourageous you to be in peace with God. I really love all of the songs. Great riffs, great melodies, great voice, great lyrics, great message!

5OH YEAH!  May 30, 2007
Krystal ROCKS! If you haven't heard her before, you have to check this out. Forget Avril, she has gone Hollywood. Krystal is the REAL thing and sings about what matters. Trust me on this, you are going to like what you hear.

4Solid Lyrics, Very Good Sound  Apr 28, 2007
Krystal Meyers combines a very good voice, solid rock music, and uplifting lyrics into a fine CD.

Although she is quite young, she demonstrates a song writing ability with a great deal of depth. The tracks here range from those that rock quite a bit to the more mellow. All of them are positive with a Christian theme.

Some particularly good tunes on this album include the following: The Way To Begin, Fire, and Rescue.

This is one that is definitely worth a listen, or many.

4Energetic, powerful music to worship by  Mar 18, 2007
I stumbled across this CD when it first came out in late summer 2005 and immediately liked it. In fact, I played it to death for about the first month I had it, and it became one of my Top 10 favorite CDs of 2005.

What hooked me on this CD were its never-relenting energy and the strong, vertically focused lyrics. So much of modern rock these days lacks character most of all, and even tends to lack life and energy; it's boring. This album jumped out at me immediately because it's so full of LIFE and overflowing with radiant energy, that so many other modern rock bands sound half-asleep in comparison.

All throughout the album there is a sense of surrender to God, a sense of awe at his love and working in our lives, and a sense of excitement of living life with God. It's hard to get lyrics like that outside of the praise & worship genre these days, if you like powerful music.

Here are some examples of lyrics from the album that illustrate what I'm talking about. From "My Savior": "Your love consumes me...I'm amazed you call me mine." From "Fire": "Let your fire feed on all my disbelief because you are all I need -- you're contagious...My light is burning bright...I'm going to let this flame get higher...You're the only reason I'm on fire." From "Fall To Pieces": "All this time I've compromised and tried to find the easy way out, but now I'm letting go of all I know...When everything around me falls to pieces, I've got something in my life; When I'm broken I see only You completely." From "Reflections Of Love": "I want to love the way You love me, I want to learn to forgive and forget...I'm seeing on the outside the changes on the inside shining through; Your love is the reason I'm alive, so as I live my life, in everything I do, I hope You see reflections of You."

In the song "Lovely Traces," she considers the hard times, disappointments, and failures in her life and realizes that each piece was something that helped bring her closer to God--all through those experiences, there are "lovely traces" of God working in her life. In "Rescue," she covers the struggle we often have of trying to be good on our own, then failing, when she calls out what we really need: "All this time I thought the fight was only mine--I need to let You rescue me." He changes us, we don't become better by our own effort. The final song on the album has these words: "I'm sorry that I've been so cold, my excuses so pitiful; I've done all I can to gain control, but You are the hand I need to hold."

Her song "Anticonformity" was a feature song from the album, such that she even had a website on that theme. I especially like these lines from that song: "It's all around, pressure from my so-called friends, I'm measured by some stupid trend." I love it! I hate the pressure to be like everyone else. While it's strongest in junior high and high school, it exists even in the business world, where you're expected to dress a certain way and have certain preferences if you want to be successful. According to Wikipedia, this song reached #1 on JPN--is that a Japanese radio network? I know she toured Japan, and a song with this lyrical theme would certainly resonate with the Japanese, who live in a society of strait-jacket conformity.

From the beginning of the album, where the exuberance of the chorus reflects the sense of hope in the song, through the more contemplative moments in "Reflections Of You" and "Lovely Traces," to the cries for God to rescue from self-attempts to save in "Rescue" and "Can't Stay," this album is solid both musically and lyrically. And she was only 16 when she recorded this! She wrote "Anitconformity" when she was in the ninth grade!

I have her second CD, which is also a solid offering, but I don't like it quite as well as this one. Her second CD, while still energetic, has lyrics that are not near as meaningful to me as the lyrics on this debut. I continue to dig out this debut album of hers from time to time and have some great worship experiences accompanied by powerful, energetic music.

4A good CD by a good musician  Jan 20, 2007
I go this CD a few days ago and it is a good CD. In my opinion this is not the best CD in the world but it is certainly worth a listen. She is similar to other artists these days but I still think that she is a talented singer. Some people question the sincerity of her message because of the way she looks but I think she is a sincere artist. I say just because you are a Christian doesn't mean you can't dress like other rock stars in this day and age. In my opinion the best songs are probably Fire and Fall to Pieces. In my opinion she is worth a listen especially if you are a fan of Barlowgirl or Jessie Daniels.
