Still Rocks!!!!! Jul 24, 2009 My father played this for me and my sister in a dark room back in 1978 when I was 11. He played it in a dark room so that we could "imagine". Little did we know he had a hand full of poppers (tiny fire crackers that detinate when thrown against something). Scared the shiznit out of me BUT I loved it!
Years later I found a copy of this and played it for my 8 and 9 year old children (who are now 20 and 21) outside on our deck around sunset. . There was heat lightning way off in the distance. We watched the light show to these tapes. It was like an alien battle in the clouds. It was one of the coolest things EVER!! We still talk about it from time to time with big smiles on our faces.
I have an 8 year old now that LOVES it. When something is this good it stands the test of time.It is an experience you will cherish.
A Winner of A musical Story Jul 07, 2009 If you are familiar with the musical Rick Wakeman's "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and like it, then this double cd will come as a pleasant surprise. Similar in vein and sound to JTTCOTE, it brings the Martian invasion envisioned by HG Wells to you thru your audio system. A remixed offering with triple layer this CD has Stereo, SACD Stereo and SACD Surround and it sounds awesome. It also has a certain period sound that will take you back to the time of the recording. Enjoy!
Magical sounds Jun 14, 2009 This double CD set is exquisite! Transported my family and I to a whole new world and the martians that invaded it. Especially love the music from the first cd.
Highly suggest it to anyone who likes orchestral music backed with a 70's sound band (synths and guitars). Awesome set!
Amazing Musical Talent - Jeff, MORE MORE MORE! Dec 23, 2008 I first bought this album (yes album) when it came out in the 70s. It was amazing then, and just as amazing now.
I find myself singing "Spirit of Man" in the shower (apologies to anyone within hearing distance)... and Forever Autumn will be one of my favorite love songs of all time... :)
Recently, I booked a trip to England, and (on a lark) wondered if someone had decided to pick this up as a stage musical (as far as I can tell, no one has). DAMN! What a missed opportunity.
However, there IS a 30th anniversary tour of WotW with Jeff Wayne and Company. Tour dates are here: http://www.thewaroftheworlds.com/.
I'd already booked a trip to London in the Fall, but I am trying to get my tickets changed so I don't have to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
By the way, if you want some sneak peaks... have a look out on YouTube. There are some clips of the live show there.

believe me, Im into this Nov 10, 2008 guys, Im into high end, and this release hits top 10 as far as sound concerned, the material itself I don't need to convince you I reckon if you're here - this is a must to all rock lovers - a stand alone in its realm of musical rock, if you aren't familiar to this piece you'll love it if you like: progressive rock - ELP, jet r, yes, deep purple, - good luck, furthermore the 6 channel option is great too, comparing to many other 6 channel release that really is no worth of getting this cd stands alone in kicking everything 6 channel offers
