4Delicious pop delightfulness...  Jan 20, 2010
Okay, so I am not a diehard Britney Spears fan, but there was a time when she dominated the radio waves and really stood out as a relevant and fun pop star. Sure, she had her rough spot, but I'm really happy for her to be back on top. `In the Zone' is probably one of her better known albums, for it features a few of her biggest hits (`Toxic' still being one of the best things she's ever done). Upon reflection there is a lot to like here, and while it has a few mediocre tracks, and even two or three abysmal ones, the good far outweighs the bad.

With heavy beats, provocative lyrics and influences that range from hip-hop to reggae to rock, `In the Zone' represents some of the best of Spears.

The album opens with a smash. `Me Against the Music' is fun, catchy and memorable. Pairing Spears with Madonna was pretty ingenious, and they play off one another beautifully. The closing remix of this track is just as catchy and just as amazing. `Outrageous' is also a lot of fun. Britney finds good footing in the world of slick hip-hop beats and seductive vocals. She allows the Ying-Yang twins to grace her presence on `Boom Boom' and they give her a taste of southern hospitality. The pairing is inspired and it works gloriously.

Who would have ever thought Britney could hold her own like that?

I love the reggae influence on `The Hook Up'. It really has that `hook' that keeps you entertained. Her smooth chemistry with the rhythm is very enticing. I like the sensuality she layers on tracks like `Early Mornin' and `Breathe on Me', even if both tracks lack a little something. They have this undeniable caress, but there is also an air of stagnancy that leaves me feeling as though something were missing.

`Shadow' and `Brave New Girl' are fine, just forgettable.

And then we have the best and worst. The two worst tracks here are `Showdown', which is just plain dull, and `Touch of My Hand', which is so pointless it becomes somewhat trashy. I don't really like the construction either. It's uninspired and unflattering. But, then we have `Everytime' and `Toxic'. `Everytime' is probably the most emotional and personal song that Britney has done (she even wrote it herself). Couple that with the stunning music video and you have a shockingly sincere and touching song from Pop's princess. `Toxic', like I mentioned earlier, is honestly the best thing she has ever done. The beat is sic, the whole vibe is entrancing and absorbing and so much fun. This is one of those songs that just never grows old.

I'm addicted to that song!

So, in the end I have to say that this is a very solid pop album, one that would make any fan of the genre or the artist very, very happy.

3Britney Spears's Official In The Zone Review  May 16, 2009
Heyy!!!! It's me again! Today I'm gonna review In The Zone.

Me Against The Music- This song is sooo fun to dance to and like make up your own routines. You can even act the music video out with your friends. REALLY FUN!!!!! 10/10

I've Got That Boom! Boom!- I find this one a little controversial, because she says "...boy you look so sexy", like a jillion times and in the Ying Yang Twins rap it says that she's nude, which is kinda innapropriate considering that this came out when children still liked Britney Spears. It's fun to dance to. 7/10

Showdown- One of her most controversial songs ever! She says the following lines: "...you looking good when your half-dressed" and "...can you undo my zipper please?". So it's innapropriate. 8/10

Breathe On Me- VERY BAD LYRICS!! Like adult lyrics. But it's my favorite song of hers. So danceable!!! 10/10

Early Mornin'- See, I don't like this one because she talks the whole song. This and "Freakshow" are my least favorite songs. 4/10

Toxic- It's her #2 hit!!! Everybody loves this song! See I DONT!!! I'm tired of it! You get so sick of it after a while! That's what makes it so good to other people. 5/10

Outrageous- I like this one even though it's like her lowest rating song and has controversial lyrics. It's fun to dance to. 9/10

Touch Of My Hand- 2nd most controversial song! It's so innapropriate that I can't even talk about it. 7/10

The Hook Up- This song has a Jamacian theme. About hooking up. I like to dance and sing along to this one. 9/10

Shadow- The first ballad on the CD. I love this one. Especially the live performance in The Onyx Hotel Tour on YouTube. Slow-danceable. 10/10

Brave New Girl- BORRING! Sounds like a bubblegum, cookie-cutter song!!! 3/10

Everytime- This song rocks! It's a nice ballad. 10/10

skip:
early mornin'
brave new girl
touch of my hand

listen to:
me against the music
i've got that boom boom
showdown
breathe on me
toxic
outrageous
the hook up
shadow
everytime

There's only 2 types of people in the world ~ and you're not one of them. He me, she me, say whatcha want about me, your time ran out several posts back. Anyway, this CD is sorta Spears' Revolver. 3itch is dangerous. Sugar me, stone me, pheromone me, ya won't be dialing me. Trip yerself from here on out, I got a good memory, she owns it. Bump bump till the break of dawn, laughing singing dancing mating, it don't stop till the early morning. There's only 2 types of people in the world, he and she, green and red. Bump bump, Madonna's yer mothers sexy, I got me SUPERCHARGED.

I love Britney and everything she has done. This CD is my favorite! This and her new one Blackout. She has an excellent voice and both this CD, Blackout and her Greatest hits albums have so much variety in the music. They are all on my mp3 player for school and workouts. They are very upbeat compared to her earlier work. Every song makes you want to dance... or if you cant dance (like me), it makes me work out harder... LOVE IT!!!
