So bad, so very very bad. Nov 12, 2009 This film has a plot that would support a film 10 or 15 minutes in length at most, so the film is mostly a clumsy pastiche of pointless diversions and a running gag. What's more rendering (the process of transforming the mathematical description of each frame in to an image) is at best fair often just plain poor. Quality rendering is quite expensive and the bean counters obviously decided this film wasn't worth it. And they were right. I just wish I hadn't bought it. But I was swayed by the previous two parts of this saga which are fairly good for what they are.
BTW I viewed the blu-ray version in my media room using an Epson 6500UB on a high gain screen. If you really think you want it, do yourself a favor and wait till it hits the $5 bin. You'll be glad you did.
Funny and Great in HD Nov 12, 2009 I didn't care for the 2nd Ice Age, but the first was great. So I hoped for the best on this movie and found I was laughing as much as my girls. And in BD, the picture quality is GREAT! This movie is definately a keeper!
must see Nov 10, 2009 one of the best of three ... it is funny. Good the whole family. i am really enjoy it... you must see ...
The Best of All Three Nov 07, 2009 I recently watched all three Bluray's in succession.
Here is the rank:
1. Movie 3
2. Movie 1
3. Movie 2
1 and 2 are nearly a tie, but this one is a notch above them.
Only thing that does not work for me is the industries need to jack the prices up by bundling all these discs together (3 in all - BluRay, DB Live Digital, DVD). Really, I'm just a pure movie buff and only want the one BluRay - nothing more. It should have cost me $12 - $15 at the most.
However, with Amazon's discounts you still pay $5 less than the store warehouses in you towns (Costco, Sams, etc.). So, it makes total sense to "pre-order" (more discounts) and free shipping and NO TAX from Amazon.
Another bonus is that you can share these with others who have DVD and just like to watch the movie too (usually once), thereby be defeating the industries game of "built-in" high prices. Better yet, just get them a CD sleeve and give it to them (family member or friend). Then you've really paid about $11, which then makes it so worth it.

A fitting end to the Ice Age trilogy Nov 05, 2009 The makers of Ice Age have done it once again! Ice Age 3 seems like the perfect capstone for the Ice Age trilogy. It might not be quite as hilarious as the first two movies, but it is pretty funny. Sid is as clueless as ever. Manny becomes a stressed out parent. Buck is a decent addition (best line: "He who has gas, travels at the back of the pack.").
More importantly, Ice Age 3 is a good all-round movie. The blu-ray version has great graphics and amazingly rich sound - easily the best of them. The movie has some exciting action scenes, including a ride on the back of a pteranodon reminiscent of Star Wars.
Granted the idea of a lost world filled with dinosaurs below the Ice Age snows doesn't make a whole lot of natural history sense. Then again, we're talking about mammoths who make fart jokes. That being said, the dinosaurs are well done (better in my opinion that Land of the Lost).
If you liked the first two Ice Age movies, don't miss out on this one!
