 Love the music, found it for the same price +1 song Sep 20, 2009
I love this CD. I usually come to Amazon to download my music, as it's cheeper than iTunes. However, with this CD/MP3 Download, i noticed iTunes has it for the same price with an extra song. In addition, the "Album Only" song here on Amazon is standard on iTunes and you can purchase it individually. As the DRM is present on both, iTunes I think provides the better deal here.

You know that experience you have when you put on a new album and instantly you GET IT. I mean... really, deep-down just get it... like it connects to somewhere deep inside of you? That is the experience I had with this album. I mean, YES, I was also scratching my head and going "THIS is BRMC?!" The sound is SUCH a departure from their other albums. You are simply forced to listen to this album on its own. It cannot be held up and judged next to their other albums (also great, btw) because it's almost like their split personality - a band that belongs in Mississippi in 1935 in a chain gang somewhere. How such an uber-white band of Jesus & Mary Types can wring out such soulful pain is beyond me. But GET this album.
All the songs are incredible but the soul-wrenching songs are: Restless Sinner, Fault Line, Open Invitation, Devil's Waitin', Gospel Song, Sympathetic Noose and The Line (wait, that's almost the whole thing!) See what I mean?
Seriously! Get this album NOW!

this is their best album by far!!!howl is the sh@#!!!!!look,i love all their albums,but howl is on another level completely!!!i saw them play last year and they blew stone temple posers off the stage!!this band is the real deal and howl is them at their best.dont hesitate to buy this.if you like jesus and mary chain,early/mid rock dylan,a little zep.,and exile/sticky fingers you will love this record.this is real rock n roll:sweaty,dangerous, and tortured.it doesn't get any better than this.

I like all of their albums, but I love this one. One of my favorite albums from beginning to end by anyone. The music is very layered and full with great instrumentation from mostly acoustic guitars and piano and harmonica. Very soulful and smart from first note to the last.

You know how when you are flipping through the radio stations and hear a song from back in the day and ask yourself, "why don't they make music like this anymore?" Well, BRMC has answered that question with HOWL.
They are an incredibly well-rounded band and true musicians whose sincerity and emotions are evident in every strum of the guitar. I am not a religious man but songs like "devil's waiting" trigger all kinds of emotions deep inside.
For those of you tired of all the emo crap on the radio BRMC is a breath of fresh air and a reminder of what rock and roll is and could be. Cheers!
