Great 80's Feel Good Record Aug 14, 2006 I love this CD! A great collection of fun, feel-good, singalong songs that you're sure to like if you want to listen to something other than the doom and gloom "I hate my parents and my life sucks and I'm such a victim so feel sorry for me, boo hoo hoo" that has dominated most records released in the last 15 years. This is definitely NOT one of those records!
First the bad news. I'd give this release 5 stars if it weren't for the 2 filler songs, Sleeping with You and Life in the Real World, both of which seem out of place. The only other downside to this record is the ballad When I Look Into Your Eyes. While this song isn't bad it's a little too sappy for my taste.
The good news is that rest of the record is just awesome! Reach For the Sky and Rock You Tonight are the heaviest songs and great rocking 80s-style anthems. Except for Hold the Dream, the rest of the record is fun and upbeat with songs that will lift your spirits and that you just can't help but sing along to.
Hold the dream is a more melow inspiration song but sounds good and is still enjoyable.
All-in-all, a solid release. While it has a couple of weak songs, the rest of the record is certainly worth the price. Detractors always criticize this style of music as immature and cheesy because it isn't "serious" and doesn't make social or political statements. That's exactly what I like about this record! If you're not in the mood to contemplate the meaning of life or lick the wounds of your victimness, then you can't go wrong with Hold Your Fire!

Garbage does not age well... not like good wine. Jun 12, 2006 Any band that releases an album with a song titled "Rock You Tonight" should be banned from ever recording ever again. I wish that rule would have been in place during Firehouse's hayday. Thank goodness people were sick of this stale brand of Rock and quickly switch to more substantial listening choices.

Hold Your Fire is a must-have for any Firehouse fan!! Jan 14, 2006 After 14 years, this album is still getting rotation in my cd player. I love the speed of "Reach for the Sky" and it's catchy rhythms. My favoirte song from this album would have to be "When I Look Into Your Eyes" and "Hold The Dream". I like the song "Sleeping with you". Firehouse delivered another successful album and another top five single with "When I look into your Eyes". This is a great album and a must-have for any Firehouse fan!!!
Another Great Album Dec 04, 2005 Another great album by Firehouse. My favorites are Reach for the sky, When I look into your eyes, and hold your fire. I have other favorites, but there are my top 3. I have a story to go along with this album, ladies and gentlemen.
See, I was heading to Cross-Country one day, for the huge "Group 2" meet. (There's a section, and 5 groups from every section make it, and there were four sections, so you can make the calculations). I listened to this album, having a bad day before, and having a bad night of rest. Listening to this album, I got a river of positivity, and I had a great start and a great finish. I ended up smashing my last personal best in Cross-Country. Basically ladies and gentlemen, this cd has alot of effect. Get it.
I love to review things. Have a great day!
House on fire ! Jun 21, 2005 The first album from the band and Hold your Fire represent some of the best music of the nineties for what concern about hair melodic metal. I prefer HYF to the first one even if I love them both! Hold your fire is better recorded than the first one, it has a little more mature songwriting and it is consistent from the beginning to its end. Bill Leverty guitar sound is exceptional a truly wall of sound when he plays rhythmn parts and a really "cutting through the mix" sound when he plays solos. I really love also CJ's voice which is truly correct for the genre and really entertaining! The songs are great, great, great melodic metal and after all these years they still continue to give me fun and make me sing! These two records from Firehouse and the first two from Danger Danger are always in my cd player as the best example of an era of fantastic music, of tender power ballads and killer melodic riffs! Hair metal era!
