Practical help Nov 14, 2009 My wife and I have both read this book. We have applied many of the principles in this book and have found them effective. In fact, we have bought additional copies and given them to friends.
My highest recommendation Oct 29, 2009 Because of the hands-on, practical advice, I'd say this is one of the best parenting books I've ever read. Though I'm not a huge fan of the title (a bit too over-the-top for me), the situations he describes and examples given are real-life. It's straight-forward, with basic principles-- and they work. One of the fundamental ideas is that parents "hold all the cards", which is what I now remind myself when I face challenges with my kids. For me-- I've always felt my kids were "pretty good", but this has really shown me the areas that need work, and how to address them. It's changing the way I understand them and the issues I face with them. I'd say it's a must-read for those parents just starting out with an average 2- or 3-year-old, through the spectrun to parents dealing with difficult teens.

I wish they gave us this as a baby shower gift Oct 16, 2009 If you are a new parent, please buy this now. We have two little kids who were running the house and making us crazy. My husband listened to the audio CD for a couple of hours and started practicing what he learned. It was amazing to see how the kids reacted. Finally a little peace around the house. Awesome resource...thanks Dr. Leman!!! And I thank God for bringing this tool into our hands.

My new bible!!!! Sep 28, 2009 I absolutely LOVE this book! It has become my new bible for raising kids....it sits next to my bed - so that I can review how I handled my day with my daughter....and how I need to stratigize for the next day. Thank you Dr. Leman!!! You have made all of our lives smoother!

Discipline Made Simple Sep 27, 2009 Finally an easy to read and apply book for Christian advice on rearing obedient, caring children. A child is not the center of the universe and needs to be trained to obey parents (teachers, etc.) and become a resposible, useful adult--rather than the doted-on group of people we have made them to be.
