The good outweighs the bad. May 04, 2009 This ia an odd one. On one hand, the music is great and this bundle is cheaper than the sum of the individual soundtracks, and about the same as if you cobbled together some used ones. On the other, going off the complaints here, not only did it leave out an entire volume...but there there isn't any mention of it that I can see on the product description. You'd have to be curious enough to investigate its low rating in the reviews to know.
As much as I'd like to knock off a star just for the deception, intentional or otherwise, I can't. I could pick this up and buy H2-V1 separately and still prevail. Everybody wins.
On the other hand, I could just buy the third OST and rip the music from the first two games (PC), but we're not supposed to do that, are we...

The Best of Halo Mar 23, 2009 This music contains every tiny little bit of music you would hear from the Halo Series, either composed in a suite, or some other type. My only small issue is the fact that they didn't include the Halo 2 Vol. 1 disc, which I own already, and might I say didn't even have any of games original soundtracks.

halo fan Mar 13, 2009 I like the music and the games of Halo. Even though this box set didnt include the Halo 2 Vol.1 its still pretty good. And plus a preview of the new Halo Wars game and music. I think the only reason why they didnt add Halo 2 Vol.1 is because its a soundtrack that has various artirts on it and this box set is the score to the games. All and all this is pretty good.

Score! Feb 21, 2009 When I first came to this soundtrack it looked like a good deal, but I'd get a duplicate of the Halo 2 v1 cd I bought back in 2004. Much to my supprise it was not included. I think I am the only one reviewing this that appreciates the fact that it was not included. I can see why they left it out. Halo 2 v1 does not "fit" with these other soundtracks because of the band music ie Breaking Benjamin, Hoobastank, and Incubus. Don't get me wrong H2v1 is a great cd. There is only the score in the 4 disc set. This set is for fans of Halo who enjoy the music of the game. Listening to the music reminds me of playing the games. To sum it up. If you bought any of the other Halo soundtracks except Halo 2 v1 Don't buy this. If you are like me and you only own or don't own Halo 2 v1 pick this up. Great music on this collection

Gorgeous Music Feb 17, 2009 From the first time I played Halo:Combat Evolved in my brand new XBox, I felt there was something immensely different in this "super-marine vs. aliens" videogame encounter. While the graphics were gorgeous and the storyline was superior, I couldn't put my finger on what defined the gaming experience as so stellar.
Finally I figured out that the music was what so seamlessly elevated the entire gaming experience with HALO. The combination of story, gameplay and graphics AND THE MUSIC made this the most unique videogame of the last 10 years. Marty has simply made a beautiful tapestry of wonderful music over the entire trilogy of HALO. The fact that you can remember the music that played during certain encounters of the game bely the intrinsic work the melodies accomplished.
These discs stand alone as inspirational and passionate pieces that can make any part of your day a HALO-type day!
