Compilation of greatness Jan 31, 2010 Having ordered all of the other CDs by MJ, this one I had to have as well. This man was SO talented.....there are no words.
Underrated Jan 24, 2010 I've liked this CD, but mostly for the second one, and the 5 cuts from "Blood on the Dance Floor", that were left off, even though all of those songs would've and should've been on here. It makes me wonder why he didn't just put out a 2 CD set of all new music at the time and had released a 2 CD set of the hits a year or two later.
The songs are more intense than fun. Supposedly Jackson had been listening to NIN's "The Downward Spiral" around the time he recorded the "new" songs. I think there's a couple of songs you might be able to hear it (Scream, They Don't Care About Us).
But the only weak point to me is covering "Come Together", any of those 5 songs on "Blood" would've been better picks.
Michael Jackson: History: Past, Present, & Future, Book I Jan 24, 2010 Michael Jackson's History Book I is a fantastic 2 CD set to have in your Michael Jackson collection. There are many other Michael Jackson CDs but this is unique because it has Smile, his favorite song, which is absolutely beautiful. His vocal vibrato is stunning on this song. Other great songs found only on the second CD of the collection are Stranger in Moscow, This Time Around, D.S., Money, Come Together, Childhood(Theme from "Free Willy 2"), Tabloid Junkie, 2 Bad, History, and Little Susie. If anything, it was worth buying just for those I listed. The first CD contains the majority of songs that can be found on other CD collections. I highly recommend Book I to anyone who loves Michael Jackson's music.
Listening Pleasure!!! Jan 21, 2010 I purchase this CD for my boyfriend and he loves it. He listens to the CD every morning while riding to work. It is Michael Jackson at his best. All M.J. fans should own this collection.
Steven Mirkin is a Cold Man Jan 20, 2010 I read the critical review by Steven Mirkin regarding MJ's History release and couldn't DISAGREE with him more. I'm a huge fan of MJ's earlier work but was completely blown away by the depth of History. It rightly depicts how MJ has matured as a brilliant artist. The array of his music is stunning. Take time to listen to the layers upon layers of musical sounds he incorporates into each song. He shrewdly employs gospel, rap, historical spoken recordings, street sounds, plain speech, electric sounds into absolutely amazing masterpieces - every single one of the "new" songs on this release fits into this category. No other artist can move another person the way that MJ can. He was a gift beyond measure to this planet. What a loss that can never be replaced.
