Very happy!! Sep 09, 2009 I received the book in perfect condition and on time! I've never had any problems ordering through amazon that wasn't corrected right away. After searching around for the 2009 version of the Guinness World Records and coming up empty handed I was thrilled to find it here on Amazon. The price was good and the book was just as they described it to be. I'm so happy with my purchase that I've already ordered more merchandise here tonight!

Caveat lector Jul 17, 2009 Caveat lector ("let the reader beware"). Most of the info in this book is correct, but there are some glaring errors. For example, the tallest hotel in the world is not the Burj Al Arab. It is the Rose Tower in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which was completed in 2007, well before the publication date of this book. There are number of other errors that I have found. In other words, you can't take it on faith that a particular record in this book is true. The Guinness Book of Records has been going downhill for years. In order to keep the size of the book down (and printing costs too), the publishers have decided to remove some records from year to year. For example, you won't find the world's largest bell in the 2009 edition, but it was included in some previous editions. That's just one example; there are MANY. Overall, the Guinness book is OK, but it was much better years ago when the McWhirter brothers published it.

Record Book Jul 07, 2009 I bought this book for my 10 year old son for his last birthday because his father said he wanted it. He likes to read about the interesting things that have been done and will interrupt what I am doing to tell me about it! It keeps him entertained though I don't know how much you can actually learn from it. Any type of reading is a plus for children.
