 Classic! Feb 25, 2010
This is a wonderful recording of a master storyteller and comic telling timeless stories. I listened to them over and over as a child, and my 7 year old daughter absolutely loves them, too.
Grimm's & Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales Feb 05, 2010
Danny Kaye telling Grimms & Hans Christian Andersens Fairy Tales in his inimitable style. He was outstanding on this CD when it was new in the 1970's and we initially played this for our children. They enjoyed listening to this over and over. After they grew up and had their own children, we searched for the original recording and never found one. Recently we found a CD on Amazon. Our adult children were just as delighted at almost 40 years old as they were when they were under 10. Danny Kaye is a superb story teller, presenting the story in a way that children can imagine they are actually seeing it. We so enjoyed listening to this again, especially "Clever Gretel". Todays children will love it - let them use their imagination to conjure up images of these stories. You won't regret purchasing this CD. (And, we enjoyed it as much as they did.)

 Wondering if this is best as fond memory Oct 17, 2009
I bought this for my 4.5 y/o based on the rave reviews. It's a little more advanced/sophisticated than something published in 2008--in one story, sisters are looking for a husband, in another, a character tells another that his ears will be cut off--but it's still entertaining and Danny Thomas is enormously talented as the storyteller. My child isn't impressed by it, and I wonder if the reviewers are remembering this CD in hindsight, or whether my child is too young still. I'm going to save it for later, and would recommend it for children over 5, maybe even 7 and up.

I had the LP as a child and I listened to it over and over. It is my favorite story time record. Danny Kaye is a master story teller.

Best Fairy Tale Recording EVER! Apr 18, 2009
We listened to this every night as we fell asleep and memorized each story. The way Danny Kaye performs these is just priceless. The accents and the way he tells the stories is so funny. I still love these stories!
