5Coheed Rocks  Mar 04, 2009
Part of the 4 Album interweaving concept albums, Coheed and Cambria never cease to amaze with the feeling and sound behind their music. "No World for Tomorrow" and "Mother Superior" top my favorites from the CD, but all the songs are outstanding.

5The "Heed" has done it again!!!  Nov 06, 2008
This vinyl set is astonishing!
The sound quality is incomparable to the CD.
It's like you, as the listener, are put in the studio with the band as they jam threw all the tracks. And the etched designed on the flip side of the second record is a really cool addition to this set. The artwork on the inside of the gate fold blew my mind too.
A great purchase...

5If you love Coheed and you are a record buff, you are in heaven!  Oct 30, 2008
It's hard to believe that it has been a year since Coheed and Cambria released their latest addition to the Amory Wars saga. I've heard mixed things about the album, with some saying it's their sell-out record to some praising it. I personally think that while it's not their best album, it sure is strong, though it does take a few listens to actually enjoy all the tracks on this album.

Since I'm reviewing the LP version of this album, I think I should discuss the record itself. It comes with two records, though only three sides are actually music. The fourth side is covered with Keywork artwork. Other than that, it's virtually the same as the CD, but without a booklet. Replacing that is a sheet of paper with the artwork and lyrics on both sides.
Now, you might be thinking, "I love collecting records, but I am modern, too, and I want these songs on my mp3 player. And I don't like downloading songs illegally." Well, there are no worries here, because included in this LP is a code to download this album online, so that way you get the best of both worlds.

Now that I've talked about the record itself, let's move on to the songs inscribed on the record's grooves.

THE REAPING: All of Coheed's last albums have opened up on a short instrumental, but this one is different. It is less than two minutes, but it has Claudio singing hauntingly on it, along with an acoustic guitar. It segues perfectly into...

NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW: ...a heavy 5-minute track. This track gives off the feeling of a climatic battle, with heavy drumming, guitar, and its lyrics. If The Reaping didn't get you in the mood, this sure will.

THE HOUND (OF BLOOD AND RANK): This song opens with a synth riff which resembles that of The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again." Then the guitar kicks in with Claudio's vocals once again dominating. It ends with the phrase, "It's all on you, boy."

FEATHERS: Their second single. This one sort of grows on you in time. Catchy lyrics, with a strong metaphor for women. The music video is quite funny, too.

THE RUNNING FREE: Their first single. Enters with a guitar buildup, then gets on to its storytelling. Like its partner, it has a catchy, almost mainstream-like chorus.

MOTHER SUPERIOR: This one is different than the others so far. It opens up acoustically with Claudio singing, then it builds up to a slow, emotional ballad, before exploding into a spine-tingling ending.

GRAVEMAKERS AND GUNSLINGERS: With the F-bomb dropped three times in this song, it's the reason why this album got the Parental Advisory brand. It's a heavy, sort of in-your-face metal song with low and high notes and the illusion of a gunfight.

JUSTICE IN MURDER: This one takes a few listens to actually appreciate. This song is mainly chorus, but it's catchy enough to make you want to listen to it again and again. It's supposed to be the song where Wilhelm Ryan dies, too, so it gets more respect from me.

THE END COMPLETE I: THE FALL OF HOUSE ATLANTIC: Instead of putting the instrumental at the beginning, the place it near the middle. A climatic buildup of acoustic guitars follows dramatic wordless vocals.

II: RADIO BYE BYE: Another strong track, with an interesting bridge. It fades out, unlike the other tracks, right into....

III: THE END COMPLETE: The climax of the album, methinks. It's 7 minutes of hard bliss, from Claudio's screaming to the almost cryptically haunting vocals. The last minute ends with an acoustic guitar with Claudio saying, "We're going to get you, my love..."

IV: THE ROAD AND THE DAMNED: Here's another track that requires a few listens to enjoy. It's hard to explain, but this song is highly emotional and doesn't resemble anything the band has ever done.

V: ON THE BRINK: The resolution of the album. This time, Pink Floyd is their main influence, with the synths, piano, and the guitar buildup after the vocals that resembles "In the Flesh." It follows with a barrage of "Hail!" then it ends climatically, thus concluding the Amory Wars.

Overall, if you like Coheed and love records, this is for you! I hope they come out with a new album soon!

5Album Of The Year!  Nov 25, 2007
This band is awesome!
They have released the album of their carreer. NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW is simply the best thing I've heard in years. They have the absolute perfect mix of retro-rock sound, mixed with metal, 80's style and even some pop hooks.
If you ever liked material like PINK FLOYD, RUSH, YESS, IRON MAIDEN and more...you'll love this. Must be heard to be believed!
They even released it on vinyl also. Bitchin'!

4No World For Tomorrow  Nov 10, 2007
Another impressive album from Coheed and Cambria; the continuation of the final piece of songwriter Claudio Sanchez' four-part tetrology (the first part was created under the band name shabutie), chronicling the Amory Saga.

No World follows closely in the progression of the band, with a style more similar to "From Fear..." than their earlier work, which focuses to a greater extent on use of effects in creating a dark and mysterious sound. Overall, if you liked Coheed's past performance, then No World... will not disappoint.

The Vinyl edition features beautiful artwork, with the double gatefold design allowing for a very impresive display of the artist, Ken Kelley's style.

The album itself is pressed on two 180 gram vinyl discs, designed to accommodate the long running time of the album, at 33.3 rpm. The first three sides contain music, while the fourth side features a beautiful etched artwork.
