Everyone: Bless the Go-Go's Oct 26, 2009 One of the Go-Go's best studio productions ever...unfortunately for all of us, a very tragic event happened several months after this terrific album was released in 2001 and the world understandably ignored a great many artistic efforts (across all media formats both live and recorded, audio, video and literary). Had this album been released prior to 2001 or after 2002, a wider audience reception would have been more likely.
Not a bad track on this album, some stronger than others of course but all songs are worthy of repeat listens, serving as additional proof that every member of the Go-Go's represent the group as a truly talented band.
God Bless the Go-Go's has a great beat and you can dance to it; well-written tunes like Apology and Here You Are are among highlights.
Please Go-Go's I hope there are more new studio albums to follow...
Brains Turn To Sand Sep 20, 2009 When Belinda Carlisle was a yoot she was iconoclastic, opionated, and articulate. The Go-Go's wrote passionate songs with interesting lyrics. Now that they have gotten old they retread every musical cliche they can accentuate and write song after song spouting every cliche shoved down our throats. Why is it that the people who spout the idea of personal responsibility have the most to be sorry about? Why is it that the people that claim the most freedom are the biggest sheep? Why? Because the system is set up to wear down the brains of anyone that every had an ounce of rebellion by tearing them down until there only hope for salvation is some fairy tale. God Bless The Go-Go's!!! Zeus Bless Me!!! If you want to behave responsible and have any freedom from aversive controls stay away from this crap and start questioning the system. The only way to avoid manipulation is to understand manipulation. CD's like this are the Enemy! Complete Crap!!!!
good quality CD Sep 13, 2009 This was a good deal buy. The quality sound is good and genuine, I like it very much and I strongly recommended anyone to try just click over online at Amazon.com and there you can choose whatever you want easy as that! I play it in my car stereo
over and again, so far served me without any problem.
Come On Everybody!! Sep 01, 2009 Awsome comeback album, The Go-Go's have not lost their touch one bit since their prime. In fact it doesn't even seem like any time passed. Belinda sounds as good as she ever did. I think "God Bless The Go-Go's" is a tad bit rockier than their previous albums and this works great for me. If only they couldv'e made a few more albums with this sound before calling it quits. Also the album was supposed to be titled "Vision of Nowness" but they changed it to "God Bless The Go-Go's" I learned this on a program that showed the making of the album and them performing an unreleased track together in the studio. This album is one of the band's best album's of their career and is also their last one. If you're skeptic about purchasing this album don't be. It's the Go-Go's all charged up and ready to go, If you like any of their previous albums you'll have no problems when it comes to this one. The album opens up with one of my favorites and stand-outs "La La Land", What a great way to open. "Unforgiven" and "Stuck In My Car" are other standouts.
Very different from the first Nov 29, 2008 God Bless The Go-Go's is 45 minutes and 17 second long and was released on May 15, 2001. God Bless The Go-Go's reached #57 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Album and #17 on the U.S. Billboard Top Internet Albums. This was their fourth and last (to date) studio album. Only one song manages to crack the top 100. This is a 180 degree turn from their Beauty and the Beat Album. This is a much harder sound with some tough songs to them. Gone are the upbeat happy tunes like: Vacation, Turn to You, and Our Lips Are Sealed. In this one, some of the songs are: Unforgiven, Here You Are, and Throw Me a Curve. Still it is worth the money. God Bless The Go-Go's gets an AAA+++.
