So they sound like Relient K...They are still good! Mar 08, 2009
I bought this for my niece who is a teenager. She loves it... says they are her favorite band. I confess... I listen to it as well and like it, too.

Eleventyseven's first cd followed a very stereotypical approach to the punk rock Christian market and I had mixed feelings. Galactic conquest is a 180 degree turn and, for the most part, for the better. The computer generated riffs, sounds, and digitized voices are goofy and fun and the lyrics are moderately decent (considering most "Christian" rock). Worth the money for sure.

The genre of Pop/Punk is very crowded i.e. Relient K, Stellar Kart. In this genre, bands like Eleventyseven were lost in the crowd, so they totally changed their sound. The result is an amazing CD that might not be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it's original.
"Love In Your Arms" is probably the highlight of the CD, and like the rest of the CD it is a great ringtone song. I mean the rock mixed with electronic is something never heard in CCM. The new sound is continued in "Happiness," but only every once in a while. The band has matured enough to keep things interesting and catchy throughout the whole album. "How It Feels (To Be With You)" is a well crafted song that builds up interest until unleashing on the chorus, satisfying to the utmost.
"It's Beautiful" is a great radio acoustic song, and it really shows the band's maturity. The lowlight is "12 Step Programs" which isn't bad, it just doesn't have the feel of the rest of the album, and feels out of place. "Conan" on the other hand is a great candidate for best pop culture reference song of the year. I first thought the song was about Conan The Barbarian, but it's actually Conan O' Brien (the guy who's taking over the Tonight Show). I won't spoil the lyrics, but they'll make you laugh. And the most surprising thing is they haven't been a guest on the guy's show. I mean they make a song about him, and he doesn't even care.
My personal favorite song off the album is "Galaxies Collide," a heavy electronic song in the style of HelloGoodbye, in that it's a electronic voice lovesong. The chorus is great, and the music is the most refreshing in years.
Overall, a must-have for anybody looking for original Christian music. The style is great and Eleventyseven have really found their niche. I mean, nobody else does it, and they do it perfectly. I would love to see the style throughout their next album, but this is one of my favorites for the year.

I run the music department at a Christian bookstore, if that gives any merit to my opinion. :)
The first review on here is pretty accurate in terms of the sound. Don't let the cover scare you into thinking it's all "alien-techno". This actually is a fairly diverse album stylistically. There are a few tracks leaning toward the techno end of the spectrum intentionally to give the album a certain mood.
It is very upbeat, but the lyrics remain thoughtful (unlike a band like Relient K who is fun but rather empty). I would say the sound is similar to Relient K, and you'll hear some Blink-182 style influences, among others.
It is not punk, persay, but you can tell this generation grew out of punk music.
All in all this is a great album. Meaningful and fun to listen too, with a little bit of a theme to grab your attention. Enjoy :)

Sonic Blast of Pop Punk Energy Sep 04, 2007
Ironically, given the electro/new wave vibe of the album's first single, "Love in Your Arms," one would be led to believe that this album sounds like a pop-punk album from out of space. Quite the contrary, this album is similar in many ways to their previous effort, The Land of Fake Believe. This is not a bad thing, as the songwriting, production, and vocals are better than the stellar debut, making this latest CD a slamming blast of good-natured poppy punk tunes. Imagine Stellar Kart with a little more energy, or even EARLY Relient K before they turned to "Motion City Soundtrack Part II." Eleventy Seven has stuck to their guns here, much like Hawk Nelson and Stellar Kart have done. Listen, I am a fan of punk rock and this is far from it, but that does not mean it isn't high quality stuff. I love Sum 41, Dropkick Murphys, Billy Talent, etc. as well. This music is just more mainstream, that's all. Bands like Eleventy Seven provide some energetic, melodic punch to a genre that has long since tired of the self-loathing and brooding of emo and screamo. 11t7 may be way more pop than punk, but they are more ROCK than 85% of other bands out there. So put this in your car stereo and crank this baby up, and let the positive vibe drown out the pretentious, self-aware bands out there that have polluted mainstream radio.
