Successor to the Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson Sep 28, 2009 This band is best compared to Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The mayhem that can come across in their music is only comparable to the Beatles. Re-listen to the White Album or Abbey Road for the musical touchstones. Yet, they play as a group, each with a valuable contribution to make. [...]. Asked where the name Arcade Fire came from, the answer is a mere rumor that a college arcade burned down. [...]
Rock on Arcade Fire, may you stay away from drugs, the death knell of all other great artists, and long may you reign as the new kings and queens of music. [...]
If you have ever been in a school band you can truly appreciate how they operate fully as a musical group with a great front man and woman. Every person is into the performance and it rivals the Beatles. I swear, listen to a Beatles record. The writing is just as great too. I never would have imagined that such a group would come into existence because of all the continual BS in the music industry. I thought it might be John Lennon back for another go, except Win was born a month before John's untimely demise. Listen to them and go back to a time when music had meaning. Somebody is here again.
Put this sucker on repeat. Aug 20, 2009 Amazing music, amazing band. Go and get? Yes. Better than Neon Bible, but Neon Bible is worth gtting too. If you haven't listened to arcade fire, why not?
it's one super funeral! Jul 08, 2009 NOTHING ELSE TO SAY. IT MERITS A 5-STAR RATING.MAY EVEN BE BETTER THAN "NEON BIBLE"
Innovative and pleasing Jun 16, 2009 This CD starts off a little scratchy but the sound quickly makes up for any taping difficulties. Great progression and harmony throughout, the band played much of this on the Austin City Limits piece in 2007 --- a simply incredible music rendition --- vividly seen in the crowds zealous enjoyment of this super indie band. Well worthwhile to own !!!

A Masterpiece Jun 03, 2009 I've been listening to a wide variety of music for my entire life (everything from The Association to Smashing Pumpkins to Loreena McKennitt to Dylan). It's safe to say I like a lot of various genres and styles. And while I can appreciate a variety of musical styles and new bands, it is truly rare when an album so thoroughly penetrates my heart and carves out it's own little nirvana inside me. Arcade Fire's FUNERAL is one such album.
There's been so much praise heaped on this collection that it's hard to even know where to start in trying to differentiate my comments and praise from the masses. Suffice it to say that this album moves me. Each song is beautiful and powerful and captivating. The lyrics tell stories, the stories rock, and I find myself relating to them like well written short stories--like high art--even as they elevate my mood and let me engage on a purely visceral level.
As albums go, this one will be talked about for many years to come.
5/5 Stars. A must buy for any music fan.
