Coffeehouse mystery Jan 01, 2010 Another hit by Cleo Coyle in the setting of a "real" coffeehouse. You can smell the coffee as you turn the pages. The plot, like always, carries you along.
Popcorn No Extra Butter Dec 17, 2009 I have this whole series. I bought paperback and was happy with that. These are not great literature or even Evanovich, but they do provide a satisfying afternoon.

Ms. Coyle creates a great mystery read with FRENCH PRESSED, the sixth book in the entertaining `Coffeehouse Mysteries' mystery series featuring barista Clare Cosi. In FRENCH PRESSED, Clare finds herself investigating the murder of Vinny, one of her daughter Joy's friends and fellow intern at the hot NYC restaurant Solange. But when fingers start pointing to Joy herself as the murderer and the bodies begin to pile up, including one killed with Joy's own knife, Clare finds herself going deeper into investigation mode trying to prove her daughter's innocence.
There's so much I enjoyed about this book. Even though I hadn't read the previous books in the series, that didn't matter as it does an excellent job of standing alone. My favorite scene is one from later in the book, when Clare goes to a little Russian restaurant with her employee Esther and her new boyfriend, the hilarious and enjoyable Russian rapper, BB Gun. When they find out why Clare is there, to find information out about the mysterious Nick that was meeting with Chef Keitel, she's sent to a back room to meet with the man, a room which turns out to be a steam room.
Ms. Coyle creates a wonderful, well paced mystery in her sixth book in the series. I loved the vivid descriptions that made you feel like you were right there, having the coffee with Clare and co. as they went about their business. Clare was likeable right from the start and the mystery is one not easily figured out as the clues Clare and her police detective boyfriend uncover seem to point to different people, only to have another suspect appear instead. Fans of this delightful series won't go wrong picking up FRENCH PRESSED.
"Cleo Coyle" is really the husband and wife writing team of Alice Alfonsi and Marc Cerasini. They are also "Alice Kimberly", who writes the Haunted Bookshop Mysteries. You can visit them online at: [...]

Things Are Heating Up in the Kitchen Nov 08, 2008 In this the sixth installment of the Coffeehouse Mysteries, Coyle, the writing team of Alice Alfonsi (Rosemary Grace) and Marc Cerasini, who also write The Haunted Bookshop mysteries under the joint pseudonym Alice Kimberly, bring together an interesting assortment of characters.
As Clare Cosi is trying to do her job as the manager of the ever popular Village Blend, murder just always seems to pop up around her. But this time, it's her daughter Joy that is in trouble and if mommy and daddy don't run to her defense, it is quite possible that she will spend the rest of her life in jail for murder.
Restaurants are quite a cutthroat business, but when two employees of Solange are found dead, and Joy was the last to be seen with them what are the police to think? Even Clare's new love interest, Mike, the NYC Detective, is having a hard time with this one. And a couple other things.
There are multiple sub-plots that keep this book humming along and it's really a very good series that should be enjoyed with a great cup of coffee and maybe even try out a couple of the recipes in the back of the book.
Impressed with French Pressed Sep 24, 2008 This is truly a delightful addition to the coffeehouse mystery series. This installment, somewhat more than the others, has quite a bite to it.
Murder has been brought home, so to speak, in the Cosi/Allegro household. Joy, their daughter, is booked on a double murder charge. The police feel the homicides have been solved so it's up to Clare, with paramour Mike Quinn's considerable assistance, to complete the investigation and find the real culprit(s) who committed these heinous acts.
Even with number six, there is absolutely no sign of staleness. The storyline is excellently crafted and character development, as usual, topnotch. I've always felt the author(s) had a great ear for dialogue and this installment is no exception.
P.S. If you haven't checked out the website which has been based on this cozy series, do so. It's great fun--and very obvious a great deal of work has gone into it! (Coffeehousemystery.com)
