4Apatos produces another funny one.  Nov 14, 2009
A funny movie that brings russel brand to the masses and it's funny from start to finish.

5funny movie  Oct 31, 2009
Have watched a lot of comedies recently that didn't keep my attention but the time flew with this movie. Great characters, funny lines (I'm still quoting some), and an excellent cast. Highly recommend.

1Huh ???  Oct 28, 2009
I simply cannot believe how the critics frothed over this unfunny garbage. I felt so ripped off that I decided I would boycott that movie review TV show 'At The Movies' --- they couldn't praise this movie enough. Both my girlfriend and I almost walked out of the theater, but we stuck it out. When the credits rolled we both looked at each other like, "Huh???"

5cool movie  Oct 17, 2009
The movie is very funny and just awesome. Also Mila Kunis is here :P I love her.

4Breaking with Conventions  Oct 13, 2009
I thought this movie was actually interesting since it twisted a lot of conventions we usually have in a romantic comedy.

First of all, the guy is the one who has to deal with being rejected as he finds himself totally lost after the break up. I guess it made a lot of dudes out there uncomfortable to see how he deals with it-- maybe because it rang a bit more true than most would like to admit? One can only wonder.

(Spoilers ahead). The guy also doesn't 'get' the girl in the end-- he gets a girl, but not the one he had been in love with. It was his choice, mostly, though, and that felt natural. In a 'regular' romcom, he would most likely get back with his old love, otherwise, the audience would feel 'frustrated'. As if!

And yet, we get to actually like the character of the ex-girlfriend, Sarah Marshall. Maybe not so much as 'like', but we... 'get' her. We understand she's not a [...]. It would be so easy to make her evil so that we wouldn't like her. But life is always more complicated than that, isn't it?

Sarah's new boyfriend, for example, is a 'bit' crazy, but there are positive things you can point out on him. Things don't go the easy way in the movie.

Also, and maybe the most shocking for the guys, it's not the girls we see naked all the time (though there are [...] shown in the movie) - but it is our main guy, who shows his [...] a couple of times during the beginning and the end.

First of all, I say 'bring it' just because it's a sort of subversion of the conventions, and with so much commonplace everywhere, i'm definitely up for that. BUT, there's intention beyond that.

The first time it happens, that was precisely how he felt when his girlfriend was dumping him - unprotected, naked. When it happens again, in the end, he is naked as he prepares for a new relationship. It's come full circle. Of course, some people are way too 'distracted' to even think about any possible symbolic meaning for that.

Overall, very nice movie; and given its purpose, I guess it's very sucessful. It's quite funny.
