Fast Shipment Oct 27, 2009 Fame the Cd is a good soundtract. and it its consistantly played in my car
Awesome Oct 27, 2009 this CD soundtrack is awesome and came in good condition. great shipping time and great communication.
Soundtrack is better than the movie Oct 23, 2009 I saw the new version of Fame before buying this CD and find the soundtrack better than the movie. The music was never an issue though some performances are better than others.
Can't touch Naturi Naughton who not only steals every scene but outsings the other solos on the CD. Not only does she get a new arrangement of the orignal title song and "Out Here on My Own" but she has great new songs, "Can't Hide from Love" and "Get On the Floor" either one deserving an Oscar nomination for Best Song. Also enjoy "This is My Life" the equivalent to 1980's "Hot Lunch Jam." I actually find the new song works better in the new film, with a more improvisational approach. Asher Book is supposed to be the hearthrob but his peformances seem bland next to Naturi, though his cover of John Legend's "Ordinary People" works and the new song "Try" is sweet. Not sure what to make of his version of "Someone to Watch Over Me." The song worked well in the actual scene but does not resonate too well on the CD. Megan Mullally, fortunatey shows us how to do standards with her great rendition of "You Took Advantage of Me." Unfortunately the BIG FINALE "Hold Your Dream" tries too hard to inspire and is not as effective as the original's "I Sing the Body Electric." "Electric" gave me chills, "Dream" made me shrug. The rest of the tracks are used in the movie in the background and are just as effective on the CD, adding some hip-hop flavor to help keep this movie relevant.
A major plus for this soundtrack is we get the complete versions of songs that were edited for the movie, "Out Here on My Own," "Ordinary People," "Try," "Someone to Watch Over Me," and "You Took Advantage of Me." The last two are actually studio versions of songs that I believe were recorded live for the movie.
In the end, I wish the movie had been less trimmed with more depth to the plot while I wish the soundtrack had more peformance songs and less background hip-hop stylings.

One of the best soundtracks of the year Sep 22, 2009 Whether or not you like the reimagining of the 1980 hit movie FAME, you will probably like the soundtrack. Naturi Naughton, Asher Book and Bebe Neuwirth are especially worth mentioning for their talent and the arrangements with which they perform. Lots of genres and a few familiar covers with a new twist make for enjoyable listening. I was happily surprised and have had this in heavy rotation since I first heard it.
Too Many Women Sep 22, 2009 So happy to see Rachael Sage has a tune on here! She is awesome! Check her out! Nice to see Fame modernized.
