OLD SCHOOL GEM THAT NEVER GETS OLD Apr 18, 2009 This is one of the best old school hip hop albums ever. You simply must hear this. I can play is CD from beginning to end. Do yourself a big favor and buy this CD. You will not be disappointed. Can't say enough about it.
She shines like no other... Mar 26, 2008 Without a doubt, this is THE best -- track-for-track -- hip-hop album EVER by a female MC. The production is trump tight, and none of it overshadows or overwhelms Lyte's lyrical flow. This one has it all: storytelling, battle flexin', braggadocio and a little gem or two of knowledge dropped. This sh**s on Li'l Kim's supposed "5 mikes" rating by The Source.
Almost 20 years after its release, it STILL cranks. The beats deserve only the best system you can pump it on. Lyte ranks with the upper echelon of MCs PERIODS, not just those who happen to be female!
Just as food for thought, here are my Top 5 Female MCs of All Time (before you challenge these rankings, go back and listen to these artists' material -- videos and looks are irrelevant here):
1. (tie) MC Lyte/Lauryn Hill
2. Queen Latifah (do your homework, you won't regret it)
3. (Lady of) Rage
4. Foxy Brown
5. Da Brat
Honorable Mentions: Ra Digga, Li'l Kim, Bahamadia, Mia X, Heather B., Roxanne Shante, Jean Grae, Missy Elliott
CHALLENGE ME!

A True Master of the Ceremonies! Sep 11, 2006 Lets not discriminate and say she's a great woman MC, MC Lyte is an amazing MC!!! Doesn't matter one way or the other. As far as rap skills go she has complete crowd control and her raps are really dope. This LP will open you to the greatness of the world of hip hop music. Excellent release...and if you've been sleepin on it, go cop it when you get the chance. Its money well spent. Peace!

Simply the best on old school Oct 21, 2004 This cd is the best of the best! You can't go wrong with hits like "Cha Cha Cha", "Cappucino" and "Stop, Look, Listen". I would rate this album a 10 if I could. MC Lyte was the tightest female rapper on the east coast. Everyone says Queen Latifah was, but I really dont think you can put QL 2nd album up against MC Lyte's Eyes on This.
