Great Debut From These Twins Jul 03, 2003 When I first heard "Crazy For This Girl" on the radio, I thought of it as a pleasant pop hit and thought nothing more of it. One day at the cd shop, I saw the album at a good price and decided to pick it up. I am very pleased that I purchased this cd. The twins are soulful in their lyrics and captivate their fans with catchy hooks and strong bridges.Standouts on the cd include the hit "Crazy For This Girl" as well as "Done Hangin' On Maybe," "Distance," "Pick Up The Phone," and "From My Head To My Heart." If You are a fan of John Mayer or matchbox twenty, you will definitely like this cd. It was a pleasant surprise for me and could be as well for you if you pick up this album.

(3-1/2 stars) Good, but nothing really spectacular Mar 03, 2003 I didn't hear Evan and Jaron's first album, but I listened to their self-titled one to see what it was like. The album isn't bad, but it isn't necessarily anything to write home about either. As so often is the case, the only song that really stands out is the first single, "Crazy For This Girl". Some of the other songs are good too, but the thing is that they really don't make the duo stand out in the crowd or anything. Also there are a few missteps. The feel of "You Don't Know Me" is very dreary (and the lyrics aren't the best, either), and "From My Head To My Heart" could use a rewrite or two. Songs like "Wouldn't It Be Nice To Be Proud" and "Ready Or Not" have catchy rhythms and all, but all in all, this album sort of has that made-for-VH1 feel to it. In fact, while listening to this album, you kind of get the feeling that Evan and Jaron have skills but they don't want to use them. But they SHOULD use their skills to get people listening (and buying). So for their next album, they should follow what track 11 says and "make it better".
evan and jaron Feb 05, 2003 this album is great and surprising. the first time i saw CFTG on the tv, I was hooked and I knew I had to get the album. I went to my cd store but unfortunately it wasn't available anywhere in this country so i ordered it online, which i rarely ever do, and especially not when I've just heared one song! But I wasn't dissapointed for a second! From the rockin' upbeat 'outerspace' to the final notes of the romantic, touching 'I could fall' they never dissapointed me for one second. Anyone who is into some good folk-rock: GO GET THIS ONE! these talented guys won't let you down :)

The Boys of Rock Oct 21, 2002 When I saw Evan (or..was it Jaron?) for the first time, I thought that his band was going to be a joke. Two wonderful-looking men singing mushy pop songs to hormonal teenage girls. But I was so, so wrong. Evan and Jaron aren't a boy band. They're nothing like the materialistic Backstreet Boys or the imperious and macho *Nsync. They're twin brothers who have written twelve terrific soft rock songs; Twelve of the best songs of 2000. They incorporate so much into just one album, the sound of pure pop in some tracks and seventies rock in others is what makes them stand out. What makes them genuinely talented is the clever lyrical structure of each song. From the real meaning of the catchy "Outerspace" ("For all the girls who wish to be immortalized in fantasy, I wrote this song for you and not for me") to the unbelievable addictive backing vocals of "Ready or Not" ("down down down chicka chicka down down"), the guys have put together a lasting and unique sound that was exclusively theirs. The album improves with each track, each verse, each word, each chord. There is no clunker to be heard on the duo's self-titled disc. Will you take a chance with "On the Bus?" Are you ready to free yourself with "Ready or Not?" Maybe you agree that it WOULD be nice to be proud. Or did you just fall in love when they told you they were "Crazy for This Girl?" Whatever the answer, this album will appeal to male and female, rock and pop fans. Buy it!
