3Emotion had taken me over...the horizon  Dec 21, 2003
This single is a track from the lovely trio, Destiny Child (on the album Survivor and the Survivor remix). This track was originally scored by Samantha Sang and then the Beegees, who made it their timeless song. Enter the new millenium, and Destiny's Child lead, Beyonce Knowles re-arranged and made it their song.
It was a mild success on the charts, and many older fans of the song find that the girls murdered it by their elongated vocal warblings, but I am one for the delightful tunings of long drawn melodic notes -as long as it is perfected.
The video clip that accompanied this song, was touching. I believe it was set around the deathbed of Michelles mother (not certain if it was based on real life) with Kelly and Beyonce coming to help their friend in her time of need. Though, I dont know why another storyline was introduced- Beyonce discovering her 'boyfriend' was cheating by catching him on CCT camera??? Then going to the aid of Michelle, where her ma passes on; she crumples to the floor with the aid of Kelly & Beyonce supporting her up.
All 3 girls have their part in the song, with Kelly singing the first verse with her own style and Michelle singing a small piece, which tends to be raspy and scratchy, not that its a bad thing, but not my thing.
What stands out on this track is the note that Beyonce reaches upon the climax of the song. It is a truly phenomenal melisma which she holds with such control. She peaks at the highest note and steps it down with such precision, I give her 5 stars for that one note ***** And those who doubt she can't sing live, I suggest you should actively seek her singing this marvelous song LIVE, with one of the other fine diva's Celine Dion, where she hits the note but in different tempo and format.
Overall, the song is worth 3-stars.
