70's memories Jan 21, 2010 Back in the days before the term,80's metal ever entered my vocabulary, there was my 70's childhood and ELO was a part of it.I've always considered ELO to be a Beatles soundalike band and this album contains a lot of their best known FM contemporary radio hits.Their unique rock/pop/classical fusion sound was hugely successful. You can't go wrong with Telephone Line,Evil Woman,Strange Magic,Livin Thing and the sweep you off your feet track,Turn to Stone.
Some people might consider this to be bubblegum, but these songs are very catchy and fun to listen to and after all,it was the 70's and songwriter/band member Jeff Lynne was at the top of his game. The only notable exclusion from this collection was Don't Bring Me Down but if you're just a casual fan, this will work very well. This is a good album to pull out every now and then when you want to hear and remember music from a bygone era with irresistable melodies and feel good lyrics and is very enjoyable and will definitely perk up your ears.

Where's the beef? :-P Jul 23, 2009 Where's "Don't Bring Me Down"?? It's ONLY the only listenable song this band ever recorded...one would think that simple economics would require its inclusion.
THE FIFTH WILBURY Oct 06, 2008 This album is Terrific, you will know most all the tunes from radio. 11 songs just enough, no filler like so many Hits albums. Lynn's arangements and textures are amazing, I never knew he was such a force in the Wilburys. Sure wish he would form a new Wilburys style band, maybe KD Lang, Nils Lofgren, Petty, Dylan & Lynne of course. Yeah Jeff give them all a call.
Excellent. ELO Rocks Jul 23, 2008 I recently heard Strange Magic playing on the radio, and for a while I kept wondering who played that song, until I found out it was ELO. I decided to buy a cd from ELO. I wanted to try a new rock group out for a change, instead of the rock bands I usually listen to. I've never really heard any of their music, until I listened to ELO's Greatest Hits, and now I like listening to them. Strange Magic is one of the most beautiful rock songs I've ever heard (along with Echoes from Pink Floyd, and Ramblin Man from Allman Brothers). Other songs like Evil Woman, are also great. ELO is now on my list of favorite rock bands.
It's Strange Magic May 06, 2008 I am really happy I bought this cd. I originally bought it just for the songs "Strange Magic" and "Livin' Thing," but I was pleasantly surprised to find the whole cd (from beginning to end) is great! I did not realize that I was an ELO fan until I heard this cd. I recognized so many other songs from movies and commercials. It is a great collection. Definitly a great introduction to unique music.
Highly recommend.
