Old Standards Lover Nov 02, 2009 Tony still has it and his duets partners were on top of ther voice. It doesn't get any better
18 years old and loven this Oct 23, 2009 As a new fan of Tony Bennett, I have to say he is talented in his music. A great CD to put you in a upbeat or relaxing mood depending on the song. Also great collaboration with other well known artists. Worth every penny.
Tony Bennett Duets An American Classic Aug 30, 2009 I have had Tony Bennett Duets for a while now and listen to it often. I am surprised at so many negative reviews. I guess it is a matter of taste. I may not care for every song, but I do love many of them especially "It Had to be You". This music is from my parents generation and this song was there song. I actually had it played at my wedding as a surprise to them. Love it. I didn't give this 5 stars because I don't really care for some of the other artists. I think it is a help to the other artists to sing with Mr. Bennett. I especially liked KD Lang. What a beautiful voice. I would recommend this CD to anyone that likes classic music.
Tony in the dolphin pool Aug 29, 2009 I picked this one up from the library. Top names, many songs I'm familiar with. Seemed worth a listen. Mostly, from song to song, I hear Tony Bennett in a class by himself. He has an uncanny, easy confidence, a founding signature for that kind of signature song. He's the standard of those standards. I appreciate his guests adding their colors and personalities and styles. I sense they're having fun, if not a bit taken aback out of decades of respect for their elders. It's like Tony's already in, already eons comfortable with the material, and humbly inviting people to come join him. And they sound, overall, like visitors into Tony's world. He swims like a dolphin in familiar waves doing all kinds of effortless tricks of light and sound, and he's generous to give the spotlight to his new friends. But his ease and solid delivery sort of keep him in his own realm while others swim around not quite getting there. I don't mean to be mean. I just keep hearing Tony BEING there, and others not quite being there. But it's still fun and endearing imagining all those stars converging to pay homage to this almost Regular Joe American with the staying power of on point pipes so practiced, so perfectly at home.
tony bennett does it again Aug 25, 2009 i love this CD...and I love to play it for cocktail and dinner parties. ITs easy to listen to.
