Description:

Rising from the ashes of highly influential and groundbreaking bands of the past decade, Classic Case is quickly making a name for themselves as one of the hottest new acts today. Armed with a killer live show to their sound can be summed up as a healthy dose of the new generation of hardcore ala Thursday, Glassjaw or Thrice mixed with an intelegent dash of alt-rock of the 1990s ala Incubus. For a fairly new band, Classic Case have gained hordes of adoring fans across the country, and has generated a buzz in the ear of today’s finicky music community.

The story of where Classic Case began goes back to the late 90s, when guitarist/vocalist Mitchell Marlow and vocalist/guitarist Jared Draughon began playing together in the rock outfit Blankface. Following the demise of both Blankface and Marlow’s other buzz worthy group, Soundofspeed, the idea of Classic Case came together in late 2001. The pair, who attended high school together in North Carolina, and later relocated to New York City, created a certain musical spark that resulted in some very promising demo songs. With the addition of bassist Eric Mendelson, drummer Durijah Lang and guitarist/vocals - Josh, Classic Case has become a full time gig just over the past year

Classic Case’s music is melodic and poppy, yet still aggressive enough to be considered rock. They respect and admire a wide range of influences like The Police, Quicksand, Muse and Ours. While creating a twist on the music they revere and adding in their own unique musical niche, the members of Classic Case clearly showcase their sophistication as songwriters and musicians.

In the band’s mere one and half years in existence, they’ve managed to play alongside such heavy-hitters as Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, Puddle of Mudd, A Static Lullaby, Orgy and The Used. All the while, still being unsigned, they released an EP, "It’s Been Business Doing Pleasure With You," via their own means. Now with their debut full length under their belt, Classic Case will plow through the convention of the genre that spawned and evolve into something greater then the sum of their parts.

4Nice band...  Jul 19, 2006
First off, I am really surprised to see only 3 reviews under mine, I thought more people knew of these guys...But anyway, this CD is pretty good, and i think it is a worthy debut, though I hope their next oen will be better. This band is unique and so I like them cause I am always looking for unique bands. I like the lead vocalists voice and the guitars are nice. Plus the fact that these guys are recommended by He Is Legend (The best band I have ever heard)is a hint that you need to check these guys out. Best songs are Hospitalized, One, Two, Three, Three(or whatever that one is called, cause i dont quite remember the exact name of the song) and Venus.

I really hope these guys get some more recognition becacue they deserve it.

5Simply amazing!  Apr 12, 2006
Awhile back, we put an EP on this site by a small rock band with heavy Incubus influences. Finally, after a LONG wait, they have released their debut LP which ended up coming out on Fiddler/Help Records. What can I say but that it rocks? Striking similarities to Daryl from Glassjaw, but that's beside the point; these are blasting, heavy, catchy rock songs with some dark twists in there.

"Hospitalized" and "One On Three Four" are perhaps the key tracks on the disc, with their punchy, driving guitars and powerful choruses/melodies. The whole disc is pretty solid, though, despite a few rather droney guitars and parts and the fact that a lot of the songs tend to flow together. The band have discovered a sound that is a quarter Incubus, quarter Glassjaw, and half straight pop rock, and it works quite well on "Dress To Depress." The production sounds stellar and I've been blasting these jams for a few days now, so why aren't you?

5Chapel Hill Does It Again  Apr 04, 2006
While Classic Case doesn't have the traditional Chapel Hill sound, they have managed to make a helluva name for themselves.

I hate doing this, but think Glassjaw meets Mae. Definately one of the best releases of 2005.

4.5 out of 5...

4cool band!  Jan 08, 2006
well this band is pretty good...
they manage to make themselves sound like thrice and lost prophets mixed with a few other bands. Some of there songs are soft and easy to listen to and some others are fast and a little agressive with the guitars and the drums. Classic Case doesnt scream much just in a few parts of a few select songs which makes them close to sounding like the softer side of thrice. So if your a fan of thrice then you'll like this cd
