Description:

The recording process of Don't Cut Your Fabric To This Year's Fashion was experimental to say the least. Recorded at Pie Studios in Glen Clove, Long Island and General George's converted studio in Lindenhurst, NY, the album was produced and mixed by William Wittman, famous for his work as CYNDI LAUPER's exclusive producer for the past 15 years. Don't Cut Your Fabric To This Year's Fashion features guest appearances by Eddie Reyes of TAKING BACK SUNDAY and Gary Bennett of KILL YOUR IDOLS.

1Just because you like Guitar Hero doesn't make you a musician  Dec 08, 2007
This band is quite possibly the worst band I have ever seen. I am pretty sure that only one of the three guys holding a guitar or bass on stage was even playing it. Each of them had their own synthesizer. These guys are very much Duran Duran-like. What a sham. They must have some rich parents buying off the Jagermeister guys to let them play on the tour. Don't waste your money on this load of garbage. The static on your radio is better than this trash.

5In this case clever song titles DO make for clever songs  Mar 05, 2006
I had never listened to Action Action before my friend bought there second album. I was blown away right from the beginning so a few days later I bought Don't Cut Your Fabric To This Years Fashion. I think I have listened to it all the way through 20 times and I still can't get enough. "Drug Like" is a beautiful, sad, electronic masterpiece. "Instructions on building a model airplane" rocks like something great. "The Short Week Begins With Longing" is the perfect ending, and everything in between is just as spectacular. Great CD.

3"ok" electronic-based indie rock - the singer is TERRIBLE - if you like him, though, the songs are decent enough  Jan 05, 2006
Ok, let's get this out of the way first - the singer is VERY much love-it-or-hate-it (honestly though, this guy is just terrible). I would even go so far as to say he's ANNOYING. However, if you happen to like him than the rest of the songs are actually pretty good (if they had a different singer this album would've been MUCH better). Every song is pretty catchy with slightly interesting lyrics (these two are the band's saving grace), but the singer indeed ruins the songs. You could tell that this band has promise - they have a lot of new and interesting musical ideas. The only songs I can really listen to repeatedly (and they're arguably the best here) are "Photograph", "Instructions On Building" and "Let's Never Go To Sleep". On these songs he actually manages not to be annoying enough to ruin them. ONLY for fans of the singer would I recommend this.

Highlights include:
the entire album if you can stand the singer

3A nice start...  Jul 12, 2005
The only reason I heard of Action Action was because a friend of mine took me to a concert where they opened.
Afteward, I bought the CD from the booth outside for $12. It was autographed, and really, really bright.
As has been noted, this band is not original. They are, however, pretty "cool". Though the artists look the part, Action Action is not "emo" in its mood or lyrics. Like The Killers, The Bravery, Duran Duran, etc, the band is more a punk/poptronica band.
Standout songs include: this year's fashion, Druglike (my favorite), Photograph, Instructions on building a model airplane, dont cut your fabric, the short weekend begins with a longing. Yes I realize that is almost half the CD.
Anyway, the CD is worth buying though it definitely is more for a punk teen kid crowd. I give 3.5/5 stars.

5Action Paction  Jun 13, 2005
Action Action's Dont cut your fabric to this years fashion is a great cd for all 80s music lovers. They portrayed very good feelings in unusual lyrics comparing odd things but still making sense of their feelings. They are a very original band and i hope to see and hear more of this band. They have truly captured me and i cant get enough of them.
