Description:

Petey Pablo, whose gruff and agile vocals are buffeted by truly inspired party beats, is dead set on putting his home state of North Carolina on the map, and he might just be able to pull it off. A personality rapper who's less sugarcoated than Nelly yet not quite as gritty as Mystikal, Petey Pablo specializes in hip-hop anthems that might actually sound better flooding a football stadium than they would a dance floor. "919" in particular (or at least the clean version) is destined to become a pro-sports event favorite, down in North Cackalacka. And he deserves to be heard. Diary of a Sinner is a cut above your average generic Southern rap, and it's got some incredible, Timbaland-produced beats to give it some weight. --Rebecca Levine

1Worst Dirty South Album!  Apr 24, 2006
This CD was the most messed up CD, I ever listened to especially because there was no hot songs on there except for "Raise Up", "Raise Up (All Cities)", and "Told Y'all". That's about it nothing else is hard. Do not buy this CD.

4Terrific Debut  Feb 26, 2006
I think this album is extremely good... at least until track 13 where it slows down and he doesn't seem to try as hard. Raise Up is a great song to blast but the remix is better. It is the same exact song but instead of only hearing NORTH CAROLINA! over and over again it has all different cities. The best tracks are Petey Pablo, I, and 919... but there is no lack of great songs... he shows so much talent in songs like Funroom where his flow is unbelievable, and emotion like in Live Debaco where the chorus is him yelling, and La Di Da Da Da could easily have been a single. Support him, he's one of the most talented rappers in the game right now, if you dont believe me listen to "Petey Pablo" it may very well be one of the best songs ever recorded... i just wish all of them were that good.

3OK debut -- expected much more  Sep 09, 2005
After first hearing his classic "Raise Up" I couldn't wait for this to drop, when I got it (as other reviewers have said) I was disappointed. His flow and style are very different and unique but I wasn't and still ain't feelin it to much. Of the 16 songs on here (1 is just a remix w/ a differnt hook so 15 songs really), 1 or 2 are classics (they're the same song), 4 are good, 5 are ok and 5 I skip. Guests are on only a few tracks doing the hook, more guests probably would have been better for him in this case. Production is ok to sort of good, Chuckie Madness does 4 songs, Timbaland and Buddah & Shamello each do 3, Punch, Petey Pablo, Huck-A-Buck, Eddie Hustle all do 1. If you're a huge fan get this otherwise I'd probably say pass it up.

#2 - 6.5
#3 - 10 (CLASSIC -- great beat -- NORTH CAROLINA)
#4 - 5.5 (f/ Timbaland)
#5 - 6.5
#6 - 8.5 (also on "Fast and Furious" soundtrack -- tight beat)
#7 - 8 (f/ Tamika Mathis)
#8 - 7 (f/ Tweet -- upbeat song)
#9 - 7
#10 -3
#11 - 4
#12 - 6.5
#13 - 8 (nice story about trife hoe$)
#14 - 8
#15 - 5 (f/ nicholas Bryan)
#16 - 5
#18 (remix of #3 with different hook)

1Horrible!!!!!!! Just Plain Horrible!!!!!!  Apr 07, 2004
This debut from Petey Pablo was just plain disgusting. The only good songs on this album were I, Raise Up, and Petey Pablo. Every other song on here sucked. I got this album for Christmas a couple of years ago and was very disappointed. Fun Room has got to be the worst song on the album. It has a stupid beat and some very elementary lyrics. I didnt like this album from the first time I heard it and then I saw people on here talking about how great it was and XXL Magazine rated it XL a couple of years ago so I thought "Maybe I should listen to it again with an open mind" but sorry I still hated it!!!!!!! Petey I know you can do better than this. Please, Im begging you, Please give us something better on your next release becuase you are way too talented to be feeding us this garbage.
