Worth the wait Oct 13, 2009 This album has been on back order, discontinued, reissued, discontinued, reissued... well, you get the picture, for almost three years. I was finally able to get my hands on one of the three remaining copies that Amazon sourced and it was well worth the wait. Some great songs by a great singer with some amazing backing bands (E Street Band, Southside Johnny, etc.)

Spector solo May 30, 2009 Some good tracks here. Uneven musical quality. Poor audio. Not for the casual Ronettes fan.

One of a kind voice May 10, 2009 I am a big fan of the Ronettes and Ronnie Spector. She has a one of a kind voice. It's been said that the wall of sound made the Ronettes but I beg to differ. It was that one of a kind voice. I never heard anything like it before the Ronettes or since. I have most of Ronnie Spector's cd's and that voice comes through (no wall of sound here)like no other. I hope that girl never stops singing. I drove 500 miles to see her preform in Connecticut (Mohegan sun Christmas Show) and what a show it was. If there was a 10 star rating, I would rate it a 15!
A worthy collection Jan 26, 2008 You have to give Ronnie some credit. Despite her difficulties in having a successful solo career immediately following her troubled marriage to Phil, she still persevered as a performer. This single CD collection is mediocre in its execution, but if you are a fan of this talented and unique-voiced singer, you owe it to yourself to have a listen.
This disc is essentially Ronnie's 1980's album, "Unfinished Business", as well as a few late-70s single tracks. I essentially bought this disc, to have on CD, those few 70s tracks. Her version of "Say Goodbye to Hollywood" is simply not as good as Billy Joel's original. It's enjoyable in itself, and who couldn't appreciate Ronnie singing the song that was written for her, but her delivery of it is pedestrian, and lacking feeling. The other side of that original single, "Baby Please Don't Go", on the other hand, is one of the best tracks of her entire career. It is moving and beautifully sung. Her duet with Southside Johnny, "You Mean So Much To Me", is a gem as well, and incredibly fun to hear, both in the studio cut, and in the "live" version.
I expected that I would not enjoy the "Unfinished Business" album, but I have to say, it's not bad at all. Ronnie's follow-up to the single "Take Me Home Tonight", with Eddie Money (also featured on this CD), "Who Can Sleep", is pretty good, and the other standout album cuts, "Love On a Rooftop", "Dangerous", "When We Danced", and a nice cover of "Burnin' Love" are all highlights. I found myself giggling a little at some of the patter in "Dangerous" between her and fellow band mates, but you have to admit the song rocks, even today. The other tracks from this album are pleasant, despite some occasional 80s, overproduced cheese.
The packaging, like some other reviewers have mentioned, does look cheap and hastily put-together. The sound quality, however, is totally fine. Clean and free of distortion. What would make this collection better then what it is, perhaps would be a more comprehensive selection of Ronnie's work. The "Siren" LP would be nice to have, as well as her singles for Tom Cat and Apple. The latter Phil Spector-produced tracks, are probably a far stretch at this point, but hopefully we can hear those on CD at some point in the future.
Definitely worth a listen for the Ronnie fan, and by no means a bad CD. I'm glad to have it.
Raves 4 Ronnie! Aug 31, 2007 Ok, I cannot bear to read anything negative about this woman when regarding her recordings; there are without doubt some low moments, but this is true of any artist who has survived over 45 yrs in this business!!! As a lifelong fan/devotee of Ronnie's, DANGEROUS is worth its price simply for the gorgeous B-side "Baby, Please Don't Go" . Ronnie's voice never sounded better and it is truly one of her shining moments, right next to her signature song. This cd was NOT intended to be "the definitive" Ronnie, of course; that would be nearly impossible considering all the labels this woman recorded on. But, it is certainly a valuable piece of the pie! DANGEROUS is simply her 1987 "Unfinished Business" recording with some delectable 70's bonus tracks. Misguided song selections and dated production are its minuses, but it still has its very fine moments: namely "Love on a Rooftop", the sentimental "When We Danced" and the joyous-romp, "Good Love Is Hard to Find". Another true-treasure on this compilation is Ronnie's duet with Southside Johnny, on the studio version of "You Mean So Much To Me", (from the debut Asbury Jukes LP, 1976). It is an oft-forgotten delight of a song, and not easy to find. It is perfect, and ranks with her very best recordings! New fans who really want the complete recorded-journey of Ronnie Spector have their work cut out for them, for sure; there is a 'rare' LP which is barely mentioned anywhere, that Ronnie cut in 1980 produced by Genya Ravan (Ten Wheel Drive) named "SIREN". It won't help the sales of DANGEROUS for me to expound on the righteousness of this missing gem of an LP, so go on and scour those record stores for it, because it hasn't been reborn digitally to my knowledge. But it is brilliant, and worth hunting for. Meanwhile, DANGEROUS is a must-have until the day comes when an 'ultimate-Ronnie' cd is made, which may never happen. Ronnie is an icon for good reasons, but what is not known by those who have never seen her perform, is how much this woman absolutely loves singing for us. Her enthusiasm is boundless and in return, we are captivated in her spell for musical eternity. Ronnie Rules!!
